Would it be a driver's race or would the 06 stang get beat? My uncle is keeping his MACH 1 stock untill my 06 come's in the dealer called and said it should be in on friday? Both car's 5 speed His car is stock no mufflers nothing on it. So what do you all think? I'm guessing it should be a close race. I'll pot up and let you all know what happens

No Mufflers!? The Mach 1 has no mufflers, that isnt stock!

I think what you meant to post that its "stock" right down to the mufflers.

Good luck with that, the two of you should switch cars to really see who the better driver is. That would add to the results.

Oh, and no racing from a roll, thats just ****ing stupid. Launch like a drag.

This topic has been discussed b4 and it was pretty much agreed it would be a drivers race. You should do what cleveland said and race and then switch cars and race again so you can confirm that its a drivers race

Mach 1 would win unless your uncle granny-shifts Just look at the specs alone and I know the 05/06 dreamers will agrue with me but I have an 06 GT and it is slower then a stock Mach 1...sorry.

There is only one way to find out, and asking on a Mustang forum is not that way...

I've owned an '04 Mach and currently own a '06 GT. It will be a drivers race, stock for stock.

No matter what anyone says about "05/06 dreamers".

I agree, traded a Mach 1 in on the '06 and stock for stock it's a drivers race.

Um have you looked at the specs?
Mach 1
Horsepower @ rpm 305 @ 6000 Weight 3465 lbs. (man) 3475 lbs. (auto)
Torque lb.-ft. @ rpm 320 @ 4250
05/06 Mustang GT
Horsepower @ rpm 300 @ 5750 Weight 3520 lbs. (auto)
Torque lb.-ft @ rpm 320 @ 4500

Those are close enough to be a drivers race.

Drive the car and break the motor in before racing it.

I know a guy that pulled a 13.0 in a stock mach, thats never been done in a 05/06,and people have gone faster than that in the machs stock. Just look at the trap speeds, machs trap 103-106 stock,05's trap 101-103,slight edge but a edge none the less.

4v > 3v

and something about that 305hp/320lb/ft rating didn't seem to fly very well with the dyno's...

Mach 1 has slightly more power and slightly less weight. So that should really answer the question.

However the s197 is quick enough to make a race of it, and it wouldn't take much for it to be close. Just depends who can lunch best and who can shift the best.

Also, I'd put some miles on the new motor before opening it up. At least a 1000, and it'll probably take more than that before it's really broken in and running as it should.

Guess the Mach 1 that I last won against that was powershifting was "granny" powershifting.

It is a drivers race. The cars are very close.

Don't break it in = Don't win

My 2005 runs better now with 22k miles on it than with 3k miles on it. Break in the motor or you can't even claim it will be a drivers race. Good luck AT THE TRACK!!!

are the gear ratio's and torque curves similiar as well? also, the mach 1 has a limited slip standard, does the '06 come equipped the same?

stock gear ratio's are either the same (manual, as auto is now A5). Or at least close enough not to make any odds.

The s197 does VVT which is good, but remember the Mach 1 is a DOHC engine of the same design, so it is superior.

As I said, Mach 1 more power less weight = easy to answer question.

A Mach 1 should be capable of 13.2-13.5 @ 104mph where as a s197 is more like 13.5-13.7 @ 100-101mph.

Close enough to be a drivers race on the street and at the track. BUT it will be advantage Mach 1, this is just physics, logic and common sense.

Yes the s197 GT's have a limited slip diff as standard, but the V6's don't.

Actually my 05 GT weighs less than a friends 04 Mach 1. We will be addressing this in the spring, when the 1/4 track opens back up.

Close, but mach has a slight edge. Not to say you wont win but the mach should have a very slight advantage
