are the gear ratio's and torque curves similiar as well? also, the mach 1 has a limited slip standard, does the '06 come equipped the same?

Not sure about the torque curves. But here are the gear ratios
Mach1
Final Drive Ratio 3.55:1
Gear Ratios (Manual) 1st - 3.38; 2nd - 2.00; 3rd - 1.32; 4th - 1.00; 5th - 0.62; Rev. - 3.38
05GT
Gear ratios 1st 3.34:1; 2nd 2.00:1; 3rd 1.32.1; 4th 1.00:1; 5th 0.68:1
Final drive 3.55:1

So in revue 1st the 05 seems to be a bit lower. And 2nd thru 4th they are identical. Final drive is also identical
So while the Mach 1 has a slight advantage. 5hp is not a hands down winner. The biggest advantage somes in the Mach1 being almost 150 lbs lighter. Though since the gt seems to make it's power higher in the rpm range. It could be said the gt can be in it's powerband longer before shifting.

I would like to know where the 05 GT is 150lbs heavier than a Mach1? My 05 GT with a full tank of gas weighed 3476lbs, my friends 04 Mach1 with a full tank of gas weighed 3488lbs, both cars are stock with nothing added to either. Same scale, same day, one after the other!

I am quoting figures widely available. Individual figures may vary. I bet you could weigh every mustang. And there would be many varying weights.

I have done that too. Many online sources have the Mach1 weighing between 3450 - 3500 lbs and the 05 GT coupe weighing between 3425 - 3500 lbs. That said, there is no real weight advantage of a Mach1.

Something people haven't mentioned yet.....

The Mach 1 redlines at 6800 rpm while the 05/06 GT redlines at 6250 rpm

That is an additional 550 rpm to rev through each gear to the Mach's advantage. Not much but it makes a difference.

Also I don't think that the Mach 1 has the throttle lag that the stock tuned 05/06 GT has, and that too would make a difference.

Is that enough to make a Mach 1 faster? I think it adds to its advantage, but I do agree the track is the place to find out.

Weigh difference between both vehicles is at a minimal.

The mach produces more power at the wheels then an 06 GT. Not to mention that the Mach's where an underrated vehicle to begin with producing more power then advertise.

The best answer is the track but it will depend on the better driver and better launch.

Overall the mach does have the advantage and should be the faster vehicle. If both vehicles are driven properly with equal launchs. That can't be ignored nor denied.

DON'T SUGGEST THE TRUTH!!! YOU WILL BE FLAMED!!!!

I love people on here that believe their Stang can keep up with Camaro SS's, WS6's and say its a "drivers race." Well that is true for any race!! If you cannot drive stick, you will lose!! All things being equal the MACH will win without a problem, that's all I am suggesting and yes, you are a "dreamer" if you honestly believe a MACH 1 will lose to a 05/06 Stang with equal drivers. The facts alone prove you wrong!!! So go ahead, flame away, but look at the power and weight of both cars, sure its little but all these equal, the Mach will win. So.....:Zip2:

I am aware of that. That responce was for SVTDriver who suggested his numbers also came from many online sources. I will take my individual findings and online sources over someone who tries to discredit the info provided with online sources. That all said, there is no weight savings with a Mach1 or it is very minimal to either car depending on options.

I'm sorry you think I am trying to discredit something. Here is where I got the Mach1 numbers. I figured the registry would be accurate. But you say it's discrediting your figures. So please alert them of their failure.

Those Mach1 curb weight numbers are in range of what I have seen.

One of the many sources on the 2005 Mustang GT weight.

Mine will walk those cars . Its not even a drivers race. J/K. It would be a decent run down the highway with a M6. Im about even with lid/CB F body M6 LS1 car. I know I trap 4-5MPH higher than all the auto cars at my track and about 2MPH more than stock M6s....and about the same as bolton LS1s.
ANYWAYS, I have driven both. Mach seemed quicker to me. Just let us know how it goes. ITS A DRIVERS RACE!

Yeah but you are comparing your rather heavily modified Mustang to stock or catback only Fbody's. lol.
