Mach 1

Im finally trying to make my mach faster, so Im in the process of finding out what works...I will definately say do 4.10's ASAP. I have stock 3.55's still & raced my buddies 01 cobra with 4.30's & he pulled me pretty bad, when b4 when he had stock 3.27's, it was the other way around...Gears are the best bang for the buck to begin with imo. Ive heard good things about the intake spacer too. I should have a custom SCT Xcal2 tune here shortly, so I will let u know how that goes....

Nitrous would absolutely be killer on the high compression mach motor too....there is a guy out here in sac that has a bonestock Mach 1 except, catback, drag radials, cut springs, & 175 shot running 11.5's consistently & his best was 11.3....Its NUTS...

4Vs love gears even more than 2Vs. For one, they rev higher than 2Vs so running out of gear won't be as big an issue. Or he could just get it blown and be done with it. Procharger + 9 PSI and good tune = 500rwhp :)

Hopefully I will have that same blower setup one day, but if I do a blower, I want to forge my internals so i can really crank up the boost...Machs have the same crappy pistons & rods as the GT's...

But yeah, 4.10's are perfect since Machs rev up to 6800 rpms, & most of the power is from 4000 rpms & up.....

Which gears and axles

Hey guys,
I am new to this forum and need some advice from a Mach1 owner who has been there done that. I have a 2003 Mach1/5speed with the following....
SLP Longtubes with o/r x-pipe & SLP Power-Flo mufflers. 95 mm CAI, electric water pump, aluminum flywheel, carbon fiber driveshaft, Steeda Tri-Ax, Maximum Motorsports clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster, Eibach Sportline springs, 2003 Cobra replica wheels 17x9 (front) & 17x10.5 (rear) with Nitto NT555 tires 275/40/17 (front) & 315/35/17 (rear). The car has a stout aftermarket clutch, but I don't know which it is.

I currently best a 8.24 @ 87mph in the 1/8 mile with 3.55 gears. This is a weekend only car and I want to go to 4.10 or 4.30 gears. I have heard some say that after going 4.10 that they wished that they had just gone 4.30 so I'm leaning that way.

1. Do any of you have 4.10 or 4.30 and run the 1/4 mile? How is your rpm in 4th at the finish line and more importantly, how quickly do you have to shift from 1st?

2. How about axles? Since I will probably not ever have more than 320 rwhp are 31 splines necessary or just a "peace of mind thing".

3. I have no idea what tune the car currently has so after the gear swap do I pay the big bucks for a dyno tune or buy a tuner with a canned tune?

Any advice is appreciated.
