Well I've had my car since last summer and since day 1 I noticed that the sound system was definitely lacking. The previous owner screwed the whole thing up royally and it certainly was not one of the better-sounding audio systems.

This evening (just randomly and for the hell of it) I decided to take a look at the amps/soundboard in the trunk to make sure that they were connected correctly...........

ONE OF THE AMPS WASN'T EVEN PLUGGED IN!!!!!!!! :notnice:

I reconnected it and then turned on the radio.....NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE. WTF?! It actually sounds what I expected a Mach 460 to sound like. I've had the car all this time and I never thought to check the connections :nonono:

haha, that's awesome.

I overhauled my system last week, I put a Set of JBL components in the front, and jbl co-axes in the back. Those are run by a JBL 4 channel amp, and I've also got an alping 10" sub, powered by a kicker amp, and it's all run by a Pioneer U310 bt

Ha. I had something similar (well, sorta kinda) happen to me just a couple of weeks ago. I put a new headunit and 2 subs in not long after I bought the car. Well, after that, I noticed that the radio reception wasn't all that great, but I didn't think anything of it because it wasn't that great with the stock 460 head unit. I just thought the stock antenna/reception just sucked and didn't pick up stations very well. Well, a couple of weeks ago when I did the LED gauge swap and got around to the HVAC controls, the radio had to come out first. I noticed that the antenna wire just was pushed into the radio, as in barely touching the hole it goes in. This really got me thinking. When I put it back together, I made sure the antenna wire was all the way into the back of the radio. Turned the key on and could instantly tell a difference. Before, it would barely pick up stations just down the road. Now, I was picking up stations 150 miles away like they were on a CD. I couldn't believe I had been driving my car for over 3 years not picking up radio stations very well, and it was just because the stupid antenna wire wasn't pushed in all the way.

On another side note, did y'all here about the two antennae that got married?

I heard that the wedding sucked, but the reception was great.:p

:D

Hmm, perhaps this is my problem. My Mach 460 systems is SUPER clear but i have NO bass at all. It's obnoxious. Neither one of the 6x9's in the rear are working, but I havent pulled everything down to figure out why, I keep putting it off, lol.

Any ideas? Car shouldnt have been molested in anyway, it was all factory when I bought it.

Slick...your amps are probably not coming on. Mine does the same thing. Sometimes if I hit a bump they will fire up but I've tried all the connections and they are good. Amp auto-on switch is probably bad. Also if I turn it up loud they will fire up too. Once they do come on they stay on.

Hmmm... what may be a good way to go about fixing that? Everything is bone stock except for an aftermarket JVC head-unit.

I'm going to check everything out today if i get the motivation.

It could be the way the aftermarket head unit is hooked up, or it could be the rear speakers. Are the rear drivers aftermarket? If I recall correctly, I believe they have to be 3ohm to work with the amps.
