mach 460 amps help please

I was listening to the radio loud one day and my door speakers stopped working. The ones inside the door panel. So i assumed the speakers blew out and I bought these pioneer 3-way speakers and I had the car audio shop install it because i didn't want to mess with it.

After he installed it the new speakers also didn't work and he said that it means my factory amp is not good. He said i can either get a new amp or bypass it by running a wire from the speakers directly to the radio.

But i don't know which amp I would need to get. Which amp controls the front door panel speakers? Is it the one under the cd player or the ones in the back or would it just be better to bypass the amps? He told me $65 to bypass the amps.

1) Do you have an aftermarket headunit? If yes, then you are not using it to its full potential with the other stock pieces.
2) If the speaker stopped working at once then I would have thought right away the amp overheated and not the speakers, even if speakers blow they usually sound like crap and not just die on the spot.

If it were me I would gut the whole stock setup and go aftermarket, if you like to listen to the music loudly which you do, you will be amazed at how poor the Mach system really is. You will be in the market for a 4 channel amplifier as well as 2 sets of RCA's and power, ground, lead wires.

If you choose to replace the one amplifier in the stock system then you should test each one with a volt meter. Might be best to see if it is just 1 amp or if more of them are out.

i had a similar issue with my 99.
listening to the radio and all of the sudden a loud pop then no sound except a very faint signal coming from the small triagular speaker on the driverside only. At first i though blew a fuse, so i went through and all my fuses were good, so next i assumed amps since i had been researching and it looked like other people had my problem. bought a pair of 460 amps of ebay and installed them, but they didn't change anything at all. I would look elsewhere before you got new amps if i were you! didn't do me any good. I'll probably just go to aftermarket when I'm ready to get it going again.

The factory system is a f-d-up engineering wiring nightmare. The door and rear speakers are both component setups. I believe the amp under the cd player is for all the tweeters. And if memory serves me correctly each of the rear amps are for the big speakers. Just don't remember if it's left/right, or might be front/rear. I replaced everything last summer, much happier with my all aftermarket system.

Okay i am thinking of just doing the bypass the amps thing. I just would like to know how to remove the front amp because I would like the look at the wiring behind it.

I heard it's under the factory cd player. I still have the factory cd player under my aftermarket cd player and I can't remove the factory one with the tools i use to remove the aftermarket one.

I removed all my Mach 460 stuff and installed a custom setup too. If you remove the CD player you can see the AMP but it may take more effort to get it out. I left mine in since it only ran the tweeters. If it comes down to you needing new rear amps for those speakers you speak of I have my old set I will sell you cheap.

When I tore out my mach system, I tried to remove it, but it was a royal pain in the arse, so I left the tweeter amp where it was.

Is there any reason the CD player not working (doesnt even turn on) would cause the sub woofers/ rear amps not to work?

I wanted to rip out my head unit as it has a nasty habit of jamming the cd's while ejecting and its almost impossible to remove. Did a lot of research and in my opinion it would be just easier to rip the whole factory setup out of there and replace. But then I got my exhaust setup and I didnt care about the music anymore.
