Mach 460 drain

So here is the deal, my dad's 01 Bullitt is having a drain and I know its coming from the radio somewhere. If I pull fuse #27, the drain stops. We had the same problem before and the dealer fixed it under warrenty but its been years and its not covered anymore. The mechanic told us there was a problem with the harness in the trunk and that it would keep the GEM awake but he said he fixed it. I didn't see anything that looked like it was modified.

I'd been looking at the diagrams and this is what I've got so far concerning fuses:
6 - ignition switch, I think this turns the radio off when you start the car, my diagram says hot in start ?
27 - radio and rear amps, removing this fuse stops the drain, this is always hot
32 - radio and GEM, not sure what this fuse will do if I pull it, diagram says hot in run/acc

I havn't tried yanking the 32 fuse but I'm not sure if that will help.

First I tried removing the head unit from the car, the drain continued so I put it back in. Then I thought that maybe the amp rack in the back was the cause of this issue but I don't think that is the case anymore. I pulled the rear interior appart and disconnected the two plugs that go to the rear. After having both plugs disconnected, the drain continued. I have the head unit and the amps hooked up again.

I might try to disconnect the amps again at the connectors towards the front of the car. I didn't know about those until recently. I think I'm also going to pull the head unit again along with the amps to see if the drain goes away or not. I'm not 100% positive I recorded all the info properly and I may have messed up on that.

In any event, any suguestions as to the next step on this ?

if i recall correctly, the radio and the rear defroster are on the same fuse.. you might want to check the defroster..

but im only 50 percent sure

Anyone know what effect pulling the 32 fuse will have on the GEM ?

Fuse #27... don't worry about fuse #6 or #32.

At what point does this wire split to go to your amps and radio? Looks like it goes to the front amp first along with the radio, then it comes out of the front amp to the rear amp. Have you tried unplugging it from the front amp and the radio to see if the drain is still there?

I sort of have the same problem. I have two power feeds from the same fused circuit, one for my stock radio unit and one to my stock CD unit but those are gone now and I only use one of the power wires for my after market head unit and the other one just hangs there. I pulled apart everything and still have the drain. My solution will be to cut the power wire at the fuse box and then run a new one from the fuse box to the stereo head unit.

I seem to have the same issue. I disconnected the rear amp rack harness which is located on the drivers side behind all of the upholstery. Even after this was disconnected, I still had a drain. I also left the head unit out of the car and still had a drain.

I'm going to give it all a shot again to make sure I didn't mess up and record the voltages wrong because I did it from memory a few times.
