Has anyone messed with or installed a mach 460 before? I bought my 00 GT with this crappy aftermarket junk and I want it out of there. Can anyone give me a write up or a link to installing a mach 460. Is it pretty easy? Thanks.

The Mach 460 is far from junk. The Mach 460 sounds better than
some of the aftermarket set up's I have heard. All you really have
to do is get a aftermarket deck and different speakers like the
Alpine R or S types and it will sound alot better.

All I did was add an amp and subwoofer at first, recently I swapped the head unit so I can use my iPod without the crappy FM transmitter. It wouldnt be too expensive to make a decent sounding setup. But back to your original question... check out this site http://www.flemworld.com/ click on the Mach 460 link and there is some diagrams, schematics, and how to's.

thanks for the input so far... another quick thing... with the clarion I have in right now, I don't pick up that many stations. Many of the local stations that I usually get come in really staticy. Anyone know what could cause this problem? Could my supercharger interfer? I do have this aftermarket shorter antenna. Any ideas how I could fix this?

Note: my car did not originally come with a mach 460

It is either a bad reception from your shorter antenna or
your Clarion deck.I have an old Alpine deck and all the
stations come in perfect plus I have a shorter bullitt antenna.

You could pull the deck and see if the antenna wire is connected. Its tight and can be a pain to plug into the stereo so maybe it isnt. Or if your deck has the antenna plug into the other side than stock it wont reach.

Exactly, its likely that someone didn't plug in the antenna properly. By that point you usually just want the deck in and you think "i dont need FM, i have a cd player" so you just half-ass it, or dont hook it up at all.

I have a Mach460 set up with competition concept subs and a pioneer deck and it sounds really good. Better than the set-up in my winter/cabin vehicle (so it gets way more use than the stang) which is my dakota extended cab... which features an Alpine HU, Focal Component set, Boston Subs and Alpine Type R rear speakers. The Mach 460 is way harder to tune and its nearly impossible to get the right sound, but once i did i fell in love with the sound... The mach speakers add just the right amount of distortion to make it feel like 'real' music. Whereas the Focals and type R's make it too clean and it no longer feels 'real'. I prefer going to live shows than listening to a CD and i play guitar so i prefer hearing some of the typical speaker indeficiancies.
