Mach 460 INSTALL?

I have a 97 GT and I was wondering if I found the full Mach 460 system with all wires and speakers, could I have it installed in my car? Would it be worth it? I think I could find the system fairly cheap so please help...Thanks

Im not sure if this will all hook up into your car. The mach system uses special harnesses to hook up everything. I would just get a decent head unit with some decent spearkers. Pioneer kenwood alpine any of those will treat you right. You will prob have the same amount of money with the same amount of quality both ways. Just one will be brand new

I'm not sure I would want to install a 460 if I didn't have one already. From what I understand the speakers aren't all that compatable with aftermarket components, if you decide to upgrade later after the install. I know you said you could get one for a good price, but IMO you would be better off waiting and saving to get a better/more compatable aftermarket system (plus you get a warranty on a new system).

you could install it all since the harnesses are all seperate of any other harness in the car...

with that said, why would you want that over aftermarket pieces? I have had both and there is no comparison. I hate the 460 and if it wasn't for the fact that I plan to race my car in a couple years I would have already replaced mine with aftermarket.

You can buy complete kits from places like Stangparts (at your own risk) that include the wiring harness and everything. I have the 460 and it's the best stereo I've ever had. Of course, I'm not really in to radios but as stock sound systems go I really like it.

However, as others have said it would be best to go completley aftermarket if the car didn't come with it. I've read that to use a seperate head unit you have to buy some kind of adapter. I don't know if that is true but if it is then using anything but the OEM stuff is a big hassle.
