Mach 460 sound system....

I didn't know where to post this, so ill post it here lol i just got a 99 GT and it came with a new-fangled Mach 460 sound system. Apparently the speakers and amps are intact, but I'm missing the head units. so now i got like 6-7 proprietary connectors spilling out the dash and laughing at me as i drive (or at least try to...5spd noob:( ) without tunes. My question is how would i go about fitting an aftermarket deck to the pre-existing amps? I've read all over about the mythical METRA 70-BLAHBLAH adapter, but if so, how many would i need to purchase to get all the amps workin???

any help would be appreciated, thx. :D

I don't know what I have in my car, 98 gt, but whoever had it before me f'ed the crap out of it. The amp was still in there, but all of the wires were all cut and hacked to almost nothing, all of the speakers were removed, wires were coming out all over the place, etc. It took me a solid day and a half just to wire my headunit up, and I had to bypass the amp just because of how much of a mess the person who had it before me made of it. Do yourself a favor, pick a deck you want, and take it to a stereo shop. You don't want to mess with ford stereo systems.

You only need one metra harness. You can find it on ebay. Metra harness part number 70-5519 . That should do the trick with an aftermarket unit. Basic color matching and wire splicing. If you end up going this route and have any ?'s pm me and ill help you out.

actually i am pretty sure that the 5519 is for the for the 2001+ (maybe 2002+, when ever the dash changed from the two seperate single dins to the double din unit) the harness you need for you 99 is the metra 70-5511. It will only use two of those harness the rest are going to and from the factory cd player which would have been in the lower opening in the dash.

thx

Thx alot for the replies guys :nice: i was looking through all the wires and stuff, and thinking of how much of a headache its gonna be to splice all those wires :nonono: i took it to s local stereo shop and they wanted to rip out the entire system and replace EVERYTHING lol i looked in the dash and noticed the previous owner was nice enough to remove the center amp., rendering the system useless. im just gonna have the pro shop guys splice the wires and use the stock speakers with aftermarket amp and deck. Thanks for the help yall :nice:
