Mach 1 Chin Spoiler

Mustang Monthly had a "how-to" a while ago, but I do not see it avaliable on their site.

This site has a short write up. http://home.golden.net/~trinity/Mods/mods.htm

Really this should take no more that 10-20 minutes...

Cheers!

Yeah, a chin spoiler will look nice. It'll look even nicer with the grille delete. I messed my chin spoiler up real bad last night when going over some speed bumps. I hit them damn speed bumps pretty bad. Luckily it's just my spoiler, not anything serious.
But for sure, my grille delete kit is coming soon.

Well, I did my chin spoiler and grille delete this weekend. I must say it looks sweet!! I'll get some pics soon hopefully.

OK, now here's how I did it.

1) I put the spoiler ends in line with the wheel wells, so it will sit back a bit on the bumper. It's not flush with the front.

2) Had a friend hold it in place while I drilled and fastened the two holes closest to each wheelwell. This way I knew it was in line with the wheelwell, and flush with the sides of the bumper, but I could still align it side-to-side.

3) My friend lined it up and I drilled and fastened.

The fasteners I got with it were very cheap blind rivet things. They were made of plastic and I didn't trust them at all. So, I went to Canadian Tire and picked up 12 Stainless steel bolts w/ nuts and 24 stainless washers. I replaced the cheap plastic fasteners one at a time and it's much more secure now. I trust it to hold better..

Like I said before, I'll try and snap some pics of the install.

Cliff Notes:

1) Do the two holes by the wheelwells first, fasten them, then line it up.
2) The plastic fasteners are junk. Get 12 Stainless bolts w/nuts and 24 stainless washers
3) It looks awesome.

its cake man, if you are doing it yourself, get some clamps, not like c-clamps, but just cheap plastic spring ones.

1. get it where you want with the clamps,
2. drill holes
3. put in push pins
4. enjoy

Thanks for posting pics of your car man, it looks great! I have the same color GT as you and I was planning on doing the grill delete and chin spoiler next. Now that I can see what it looks like, I am definately ordering those pieces up right now...damn that look sweet.

Also, I removed the pics so they wouldn't be doubled up on

yea I'm starting to think about adding that on too. Might as well since i'm gonna get a new hood, I'll probably paint it to match. BF get's his tomorrow, so I'll see how easily he does it and have him put it on mine too  haha. I think it looks really good, esp for how cheap it is (compared to the hood i want!). here

Think twice about it if your car is lowered. I had two of them on my car, and neither one lasted more than a couple days because it kept hanging on every driveway and speed bump. It was all scratched up and looked like crap. Finally I just gave up and pulled it back off my car.

How does everyone think the chin spoiler will look on my car? I have never seen it on my color mustang before. I also want to get the grill delete. Here is a pic of my car:

yeah I know, but this way I have a multi-purpose vehicle. I can go off-roading too.

Ok 04DarkShadowGT- I took your advise and ordered mine from mustangtuning.com. Looks like the best prices, plus you were right, free shipping! The chin spoiler is backordered though....

IMO the grill delete would look good on ANY color mustang. I have mine sitting in my room, hopefully will install it in the next week or two. I have seen pics of plenty, and my buddy has the mineral grey. They just look good!

About the chin spoiler, thats a good one. IMO they definitely look good on darker colors; black, true blue, etc. I have Sonic Blue, so im still debating on whether or not to get one. Hope this helps

Do any of you guys with non-lowered cars have a problem with the Chin Spoiler dragging on bumps and driveways????
I'm looking to do this too, but not if its gonna get majorly scratched up everytime I pull into my driveway, or work, or ...
I don't plan on lowering my car, so just wondering if it will still be a problem.

Thanks for the reply. I'm definitely going to do the grill delete. Still can't decide on the spoiler though.

I saw two sonic blue GTs a few weeks ago. They both had the chin spoilers, but one was painted sonic blue and the other was regular. Both looked cool, IMO.
