maclongtubeheader question ehat do you think

maclongtubeheader question what do you think

99 cobra with headers listed im smoking real bad it full throttle using oil compression is 170/175 on all cylinders, was wondering if i changed back to stock manifolds would this proplem stop? car never smoked or used any oil before this change ? anythoughts please!!51000miles on car also.

Do a search on this subject. It has been exhaustively discussed and argued. Most would agree that buying MAC lts is a bad idea... I don't wanna scare you, just go search this subject.

well, there are two thoughts, one is that the header scavange so well that they cause oil cosumption by sucking oil into the cylinders.. (not likely IMO)

the second is that MAC's doesn't clean the slag after welding so the weld slag gets sucked throw the egr back into the cylinders and scratches up the cylinder walls... if this is what happened... well the damage is done.

See if you can do a compression test and the cylinder walls scoped.

oil comp comp test results

compreesion is good 170/175 pre cylinerd no oil show. if i take long tubes headers off put on stock exhast do you think it will stop smoking ,,p/s/ how do you do a search? no oil on plugs

my compressions good so do you think if i changed back to stock manifolds do you think it would stop smoking.fixing to tear down to install h.d. rods and pistons ,if i see no scatches it would be best to but on stock manifolds right.adding procharger soon and dont want to smoke

MAC LT's are junk, period.......

Speaking from experience by the way.

BBK LTs fit to MAC H

Anyone know if BBK long tubes will bolt up to a MAC o/r 2.5" H?

did you have the same headers i got and what did you have to do to coorrect the promel. did you have to rebuild or what your rigth there are junk my comp. is good so do you think i sould change back to stock manifolds just to see if it stops would be cheaper than rebuilding my motor,,soon i will be adding h.d.pistons/rods for a procharger..any suggestions ,,,,thanks/..
