Just thought I would share a MOD I do with MAF cars that have a bend in the intake just before the MAF.

Many say to just click the MAF but that to me is a bandaid. My 2014 TT car has issues with air turbulence and after this mod the car ran great and the tuner said the MAF was way happier.

Basically this smooths out air flow and keys the MAF so it's job better.

I ordered my straightener off back for like $24. You should measure before you buy but I was out of town and went ahead and got a 4" one knowing I could cut it down. I'm running a LMR cold air kit thru the fender. If you have this kit you need a 3.25" screen. If you put the screen in the rubber piece you will need to cut 1/2" off the tube.

All the newer cars have that in the maf housing. I'm surprised that Ford or even the aftermarket companies never adopted that.

Not all new cars do. The factory 2011 and newer mustangs don't. But they don't have a bend before the MAF.

Factory fox body MAFs have a screen designed to break up the air. Kinda the same.

My pro m didn't. I have a 95gt maf currently but I gave remember if it had the honeycomb or not.
I know ford recommended 8" if straight pipe before the maf, my current car being SD before I did the conversion I designed a tube that would allow as much straight pipe before the filter as possible. Made a huge difference in idle quality.

Where did you get that? I have Anderson power pipe with a bend right before the maf, I'd like to give that air straightener a try.

The OEM 55MM MAF on 89-93 5.0 Mustangs had a screen in front of the MAF.
The poor guy's answer to the problem is to clock the MAF by rotating the MAF housing until you get the desired results.

Aluminum honeycomb is a standard construction and repair material in medium and large aircraft.
For those of you that want to start your own garage shop or just do some DIY , see https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=aluminum+honeycomb+core for more on aluminum honeycomb.

Damn I should have got a whole slab of this stuff lol. Il find out if it works this week. Broke my TFI and ordered the wrong one so once the new one comes il report back if the idle and overall drive is better.

Follow up to this "mod". My car does not like it as all. Bucks like crazy while in the lower RPM range. Guess the MAF just likes crappy air.

What's your air filter set up. Like stated earlier you need straight pipe before the maf and don't hook the filter directly to the sensor.

Late model CAI kit thru the fender. The whole point of the screen is to straiten the air after the bend so the MAF gets nice strait and smooth air.

This worked great on my 2014 TT car. Just not on this car. Pulled the screen out and no more bucking. Never needed the screen but i waned to see if it would smooth out how the car ran overall. So overall experiment was a failure.
