I recently swapped out my MAF to a 73mm on my 93 Cobra. Afterward, the car started running really rich. I then learned that if you swap out the MAF you also have to swap out the ECU to a standard Mustang GT ECU (something to do with voltage.)
The car ran much better for about 2 months and now it is back to running poor. If I run at a steady RPM/MPH in any gear, the car hedges every 10-15 seconds. The powerloss isn't noticeable when accelerating, only when cruising. The car is also back to running really rich.
I'm a bit miffed at this point. Does the scenario of swapping out the MAF and ECU above sound correct? If so, maybe my new MAF has simply gone bad for some reason and I can replace it with the same 73mm. If not, any suggestions on how to do this differently are appreciated.
