Would a stuck thermostat or coolant temp sensor cause thes idle issues. saw someone else post, where it was very similar surges and bad idle issues.. causing it to pump either too much fuel or not enough?

You say the MAF is "new". Are you sure it is the correct MAF? Is it a stock MAF or aftermarket? If it is a stock one, what is the part number on the top? The wrong MAF will make your car run poorly.

So did the tps..got it set at 1.1....got it to idle good and sounds good.but now when I actually try to drive.it,same issue. the only thing I have not done is put it the 02 sensors yet.it will idle great but when I put in reverse it will start to wanna die again .then when in gear it wants to cut out..so adjusted tps to .9....it drove better but would kind of just rev when I got to say 45 and up..can the 02'e case it to drive this bad? ....set considering swapping to carb...

I think you already know the answer to your problems. O2 sensors are a major part of an efi setup. You need them
