I'm new to the forum, and I need some help. I am converting my '88 5.0 SD to MAF using a kit with harness, sensor, sensor tube, al tubing etc., all supplied by Fiveology. Their wiring instructions are great, but I would like a few suggestions on where to best mount the sensor. I heard rumours (yeah, I know) that it should be at least 2 feet from the throttle body, and others have told me it needs to be close to the throttle body. I was also told to make sure it was mounted to insulate from it vibration. The sensor is a hot wire type sensor.

Just remember, air don't like to turn. The maf needs straight air so you need at least 10" to 12" of straight pipe in front ( in coming ) of the maf and I say 6" of straight out the back ( out going ) so less chance of turbulence.
if you have a stock 5.0 bracket they have rubber isolators that the maf bolts to and is L shaped to bolt to inner fender panel. This is not based on any scientific facts, just the opinion of someone that can visualize things in cartoon form.

Before the throttle body.
Everything else can be mitigated. Try and figure it out so that the air filter has the least amount of turbulence heading toward it and is not sucking in heated under-hood air.

Please explain, because '88's had no Cobra. Cobra was '93 only for Fox body.
Ford made a MAF conversion kit for the '88's. I had one but sold it long ago.

Fiveology conversion looks like a pretty standard setup. Stage 1, 2 or 3? Did you purchase this already?
It sure does look like a C&L MAF housing. I can see where they got all the other components from, then more than double the price to you.

That guy has his MAF clocked incorrectly. It may work, but it's calibrated for the sensor to be at 12 o'clock.

Clocking is irrelevant since the air filter is mounted directly on the maf inlet.
