Pulled a code 66

testing MAF signal

Getting good 12volts VPWR to GND

cant get anything more than a .032 from MAF signal to MAF return or MAF signal to battery negative and I know I should be getting anywhere from .2 to 1.5v MAF signal to GND because Ive checked it a while back when it was working and got .2

Odd thing is, with key on, MAF plugged in, from MAF signal to return/battery negative like I said I get no more than .032 but if I take my other hand and grab the probe end of the test lead in open air, WHILE IM LEANING ON THE CAR, with the other probing MAF signal, I get the .2v like I should but soon as I lean off it, back to the .032

any ideas?

thanks

If you blow into the tube with the platinum wires, does the reading change?

Have you ohmed out the ground to the MAF?

with the key on and MAF unplugged I am getting 5 volts on pin C (MAF Return) to gnd

I thought I was supposed to get the 5volts on pin D (MAF Signal) to GND ?

from MAF SIG to MAF return I am getting 3.7k ohms and MAF SIG to battery negative exact same thing 3.7k ohms

I know from what Ive read that I should be getting at least 10k ohms from these tests.

what would be my next step?

thanks

Correction...

Key on, 12 volts vpwr to ground

With key off and disconnected MAF sensor, I am getting like 130k ohms from MAF signal to MAF return and the same 130k ohms from maf signal to battery ground

key on engine off maf signal to ground .032 volts

my problem is trying key on engine running with maf plugged in is out of the question because plugging it in stalls it

MAF output volltage is always measured between pins C & D on the MAF connector (dark blue/orange and tan/light blue) or at pins 50 & 9 on the computer with the engine running. . Be sure to measure the sensor output by measuring across the pins and not between the pins and ground. Other methods will produce inconclusive results.

I suggest that you go back and slowly re-read the code 66 test path. Perform your testing according to the instructions there, and you will get some useful measurements.
