So i cleaned the maf , and am still pulling the same code. It says my maf is above or below voltage... Makes the car idle really bad. Then it wants to shut itself off.
I dont drive this thing, but would like to solve problem of course. My thinking is buy new maf calibrated for bigger injectors. Eventually i will add on some other components to accommodate this upgrade.
Dont want to buy a stock replacement.
Whos got some insight on what they would do, or have done.
Btw, car is just chillen.
Wont go back on the road for a while like
1 year, possibly 2

If it still has stock injectors go to the parts store of your choice and get a new maf. A larger aftermarket isn't gonna make you any faster

Well i am going to eventually get better heads and do a turbo. But if i was going to spend the money for a new maf, i thought i might as well as just get the bigger one now with the bigger injectors.
I dont drive the car at all. It has a car cover on it. Dont plan on driving for a while either, until i have done the turbo and heads.
Car has already been sitting six months or so. I just crank it up once a month, sit in it and smoke a couple cigs while i listen to the flowmasters rumble.
Was just planning on getting all the parts lined up to put on at once.
All ive done to it is cold air, flowmasters, stage 2 clutch, msd wires, irridium plugs, new convertible top. I did all myself, except the exhaust. Cant weld yet. I tried a lightweight flywheel, but my car was unbalanced. Tried the 50oz,28oz, and no weight. Ended up putting stock back on and got my money, back. That was an ass kicker. Kinda turned me off for a while. But im ready to start messing with it again here soon.
Now that ive explained where im kinda going, do you guys agree that i should just buy the bigger set now and put on the shelf for when i have the other mods to bolt with it? I do understand that i would gain nothing as of right now.

No. In laymens terms you match injectors/maf to how much power you're currently making. How do you know what size injectors you need if you don't know what heads, or how much boost, etc, etc, etc, you'll have. Injectors and mass air meters are something you buy last to tie it all together. Right now you have nothing to tie. In other words mafs and injectors (throttlebodies as well) "support" power they dont "make" power and right now you don't know how much power you'll need to support. If you're going to let it sit then I'd buy nothing. But if you want it running go to oriley's and get a new one. They're not that much and chances are you'll be able to keep using it after your build up.

Let's say you did a mild run of the mill topends ( head, cam, intake) you'll probably need a tune anyway due to the finicky 95 computer. You can keep your stock maf and have it tuned to match whatever injectors you have.

http://m.oreillyauto.com/mt/www.ore...ensor_1134166_710&keyword=mass+airflow+sensor I'd get this one and be done with it. Realistically it'll probably carry you further than you'll ever go. Don't buy used maintenance items.

I hardly consider a maf a maintenance item. I've had foxes since 1990 and the only time I've ever replaced one was last year when I went turbo

No kiddin.. Lucky Maybe? Or maybe I'm not, I've replaced a few on a few different vehicles, the last was an 07 expedition. Are o2 sensors not a maintenance item either? Maybe I should call em "wear" items.

I've never ever not a single time replaced an o2 senor. And, I've had over 40 vehicles in my time.

What codes are you getting with the MAF? There are problems related to MAF codes that replacing the MAF will not fix.
