I had the local shop put on a Magnaflow cat back a couple days ago. It sounds great! Magnaflow has a unique sound that is hard to beat in my opinion. :nice:

I do however have a slight dilema. The left side of the system is hitting on what I think is the controller arm. It looks to have about a half an inch of space there, and anytime I hit a bump, even a slight one, the exhaust bumps that.

I was wondering if there was a quick fix for that, or if I should just take it in to the exhaust guy Monday morning. I don't want it to clang around all weekend - I'll probably be driving around a bit.

So should I try to do anything to it, or just let the shop take care of it?

Also - what's the best tool to use for recording clear sound in case I wanted to record my car's exhaust tone?

Have the shop take care of it since you paid for them to do it right. I installed mine myself and had to adjust them a couple times to get them right and keep the clearances just right. Magnaflow rocks :nice:

it is probably the sway bar that it is hitting on. Look under the car and look where the pipes bend up from the mufflers to go over the axle. Look at the front side of the pipes for shiny spots. Once you have found it, loosen the muffler clamps unless they welded it in and move the pipes back a little bit. You may have to adjust the tips to do this.

I had the same problem with mine and that was what fixed it. But I love the way this thing sounds especially when I put on my Bassani O/R X pipe today.

Ok. I might look at that. If I don't feel comfortable or don't have time this weekend, I'll definitely let the shop do it.

I'd like to hear your car with the bassani X! Got any sound files?

I don't have any sound clips yet, as soon as I get someone with a recorder, I will try to post them here.

I had the same issue with mine and had to do 2 things:

1.) Adjust the left side by loosening the clamps and repositioning the assembly.
2.) The allen screw adjustment to hold the set on the tip would come loose and allow the assembly to get out of position. The solution was to put some rubber tubing over the adjustment rod to isolate any connection between the tip and the adjustment rod and spot weld the rod in the adjustment sleeve with a a MIG welder. No problems at all now.

Good luck

Ah, the usual magnaflow banging on the swaybar dilemma. I too, had that same problem. But since my tips welded on (since the driver's side kept moving), the install shop had to heat the pipe and bend it a little. Problem fixed, though it still occasionally hits if I drive over a large dip on the road. Also, make sure the pipe isn't too close to your gas tank or it will hit that as well.

I couldn't even use the hanger that was welded to my passenger magnapack muffler. It would have hit so bad, it was totally welded in the wrong place to even make the exhaust fit. I tried everything. Finally we made a new hanger for that side out of really thick wire, I'm talking 1/4 here. I attached it to the OE rubber hanger grommet and the hanger on the muffler to the same grommet and it fits like a charm now.

I love my MagnaPaks... take it back to the Shop on Monday and let them worry about it. I had no problems with mine. I love how the sound is suttle but wakes up when you get on it or first start up the car.

The other day I was leaving work for the day and my car was parked in the Casino parking garage. A family was unloading suitcases from their car parked behind me. When I fired up the car they all jumped! Then they stood there checking out my pony as I pulled out.
