Hi,

I have a 89 GT and am interested in doing just catback on my stock 5.0, I have been looking at the magnaflow catback, system but before i spend $500 i wanted to see some different opinions on catback exhaust and what you guys think about the Magnaflow catback as far as sound and performance go?

Thanks for any advice.

Magnaflow

$500? Try $400 at performancepeddler.com

I have run the Magnaflow catback on my last 2 stangs and I love it. In terms of performance, I don't think there is another catback out there that can deliver more in terms of horsepower and torque gains.

If you are looking for a nice throaty sound with no drone that is not in your face loud, Magnaflow delivers. :nice:

They will be pretty quiet at first, but after a few weeks they will break-in and get a tad louder (still fairly quiet). For a daily driven stang they are a perfect volume I think.

One other note....I think Maggies (just like any straight thru muffler) sound like crap if you don't have cats. Just my 2 cents.

Magnaflow is made from top notch materials and should last forever. That is what you are paying for. As far as performance and sound, they are not all that different that the other performance cat-back systems. They do sounds nice but I would not call them loud by any means. I like the MAC's as long as you have a off road h or x pipe.

I've had mine since September. They're REALLY quiet at first, but after you put some miles on them they get louder. Worth every penny for quality and sound. :nice:

Thanks for all the comments, but i was just wondering how magnaflow sounds with longtube headers as that is what i would be looking at doing in the future, because some people say that they dont like the sound of magnaflows with longtubes as it is raspy sounding.

I just got a set for mine and they're growing on me a lot. Even with no tail pipes the idle is very tame, almost stockish, but at WOT they scream like crazy and have a "serious" sound to them...not rowdy or obnoxious. They're also stainless steel which makes them worth the money.

I missed this question, but i've got full length headers and an X pipe which is the path to raspiness most of the time. Here's a clip of how they sound:

As i said before, pretty tame until you step into it.
