Well I received my magnaflow catted X pipe from partshopper. I got it all installed with no problems everything looks good. Only one problem. The Cat on the drivers side comes very close to the floor board. It isn't touching, but there is probably 1/4 inch of clearance. The passenger side has about 1 inch of clearance. Should this be a problem. I feel the floor board from within the car and it feels a little warm but nothing extremely hot!!!

Thanks for any advice. It is all lined up properly. I am wondering if the welding of the cat wasn't right?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Although we have differant body style's you may want to try unbolting it and lowering the opposite end and bolting it back up. Also, did you check to see if perhaps the flange was bent?

Mine does the same thing. I thought it was the motor mounts, but my driver's cat sits right up against the floor board. And it's been like that since I got it. No heat, just bring the noise of the exhaust into the cabin, which ain't a bad thing. ;)

So yours is actually touching the floor board? Doesn't it get really warm or even extremly hot? I have about 1/4 inch of clearance. I was going to look at it tonight. I am thinking maybe part of the catback is pushing it up when you bolt the 2 together.

From doing some searches on stangnet it seems that alot of people have this same issue on the drivers side cat converter. Little to no clearance. I guess it is just the way they are manufactured.

This is what I got back from magnaflow about the clearance issue...

"Clearance should not be an issue if the system is connected to a stock manifold. Half an inch to one inch should be ample clearance. The crossover section is where exhaust gases gets the hottest so it is normal. If it is only warm then there is no cause for concern but if it gets hotter I would recommend readjusting the system to gain additional clearance. Thank you for your interest and support in Magnaflow Performance."
