does anyone have this set up. i have a 96 gt 5 speed, and would like to here this if anyone has this.if not magnaflow whats the best combo x pipe with borla. thanks

I have that exhaust set up and I love it. I have the XR-1 mufflers instead of the regular Borla mufflers, so mine is a little on the loud side. Well actually it is very loud but you can control the volume, I had magnapack cat back before the XR-1's and the packs don't even come close!!!

I love the sound of mine, I have the catted m/f x- pipe, w/ the reg borla cat back, mine doesn't sound quite as raspy as hognutz, it could be the cats, or the recording?? mine sounds a little more umm, smoother I guess is the word I'm looking for. It's pretty quite at idle, doesn't drone on the hwy, but roars pretty good when you get on it :D

I have the magnaflow catted x with borla super turbos (regular) welded into the stock cat back. Sounds good, I wouldn't mind a bit louder though. Very quiet at idle, cruising has just a touch of drone(hardly noticable), but at WOT it really screams. When I got the mufflers ,I was really bumbed out b/c they sounded just like stock inside the car. However, after having my friend drive the car with me outside, I was like "holy $hit, that sounds bad a$$". The combo sounds more "refined" than like a true muscle car IMO, not that thats a bad thing. However, if I didn't need emissions checked, I would def go prochamber with a flowmaster or MAC cat back  sounds great and is relatively inexpensive compared to a magnaflow/borla set up $$$. BTW besides the sound, my current combo gave a geat SOTP gain.

None of you obviously have the Borla Stinger catback. I had the Borla Stinger catback with my stock h-pipe and it was louder than my buddies Spintech side exhaust. I have now added a Bassani X-pipe and I believe it smoothed the exhaust tone out and actually drones less now. I really like the combo. Bassani x-pipe (catted or not catted) with Borla Stingers would be a good combo. If your like me I purchased the new 5-piece Bassani x-pipe that has removable cats and they also supply "race pipes" to replace the cats when you want to go off-road or not catted.

If I were buying right now I would buy the stinger. I think you can pick them up for $450 or so. that was not on the market when I purchased. I am sure mine sounds a bit raspy because of no cats. I mean lets face it cats have a calming effect on the exhaust note. It does not sound that raspy under load though. the recording was just my digital camera.
