Thank you all for your replies. I listened to the clips on mustangexhaust.com and as mentioned b4 they really did sound distorted. However, from the replies i got it sounds like that is the way im going to go.

No, they definitely aren't - they're what made me decide to go with the 'Packs!

I love my exhaust and I get compliments all the time from them. Also they are good to scare away imports that don't stand a chance .

Yeah, it's funny when I pull up to a light or when a ricer pulls up to me, they stare straight forward the whole time and won't even look over. Before the exhaust all these punks would always rev on me.

Seriously, no one races me anymore.

Over winter break some VW fool (Passat I think???) kept pulling up next to me and rev'ing like -crazy-. This was by Starbucks, rice central. His car definatley had exhaust. I ignored him until we hit a light. Then I rev'd once and he stopped smiling and just stopped looking over.

My friend's were laughing their asses off the whole time.

Magnaflow

I first installed catted-X and left stock catback on. Felt increase in power. Later I added magnapack catback. No increase in power but definite increase in attitude and drone. The drone around 2k rpm gave me a headache. I bought Bassani baffles to tone the drone down which helped. Like some previous posts, once I put the packs on nobody would pull up next to me at a light even vettes. Most hot cars stayed way behind me. Driving by a crowd always brought attention. I got stopped by a cop just because it sounded like I was going fast (no ticket, just a warning). I got tired of the louder exhaust and added attention and sold the packs for magnaflows. I'm much happier with the magnaflows.

This is the exactly what I did, I installed the x/with cats on the stock catback, and did feel a slight increase in power then I got the magnapack catback which just increased the volume. I also got pulled over for the sound, except the cop said he thought I was drag racing myself .

As for the sound, you will love it outside of your car, it will sound mean, but personaly inside the car the drone was insane. Who ever would ride in my back seat would get a headache, and not be able to hear a word anyone was saying in the front of the car. On long trips I would have to roll the windows down just to let the sound of the wind try to break up the drone. I was thinking about getting the bassani baffles to try to help the drone out, but ended up putting longtubes and a catless x on my car. Now the car sounds even better and the drone is minimal, really not very noticable compared to the magnaflow catted x and magnapacks.

I would not really recommend the catted x if you are at all worried about drone. Instead I would suggest some sort of Off road x pipe (magnaflow w/o cats maybe) because I really think that the cats somehow create a lot of drone in the car. If the drone dosen't bother you or you have to pass some sort of emissions go for it. The quality of the magnaflow pipe is great and it will give a ballsy rumble outside that will get you noticed.

Hmm. I love all this input. If the magnaflow gives less drone than the magnapacks i may go with this instead. Is there any difference in power between these 2 or not?

No difference in power. Just volume (Magnaflows are actually mufflers, and the 'Packs are resonators). Size and shape of the two are different as well.

To tell the truth, I don't know how anyone has a problem with drone if they have the catted X/Magnapack combo. The only time I really have ANY significant drone is when I'm in the 1800- 2200 RPM range and my engine is under load, such as climbing a hill. Other than that, they aren't loud enough

Johnlas, you lucky dog. No emmission requirements in Florida right? If I didn't have to worry about emmission tests I would have gone without the cats in my x-pipe as well and probably gotten long tubes too. That would've probably given me more reason to stay with the packs.
In regards to other reponses, some guys like the drone some do not. Some guys don't like the drone but like the exhaust tone enough to justify putting up with the drone. Some don't have the drone at all like the previous post. There's no power difference between the two. I'm still happy with Magnaflows and it's hard to beat the price and quality of their products.

Well just to let everyone know, as much as i loved the sound clips and would love to have my car sound like that i decided to be nice to the neighbors and passengers in my car and went with the softer magnaflow cat-back. I figured at first the sound would be pretty cool but in the long run it may get to be too much. Thanks for all the input.

would it still sound OK with a generic o/r X like this one:
http://www.mustangtuning.com/noname4.html

it is mandrel 2.5"
I cannot justify spending $100+ more on a name brand one....and corrosion is not that much of a problem for me (no snow/salt)

Well the thing is for emmision purposes i needed the cats which run higher that the off-road. And i also got about $130 off the original price for the magnaflows.
