I really can't decide between these two systems. I had the packs on my '96 GT with a catted x-pipe and it wasn't quite as loud as I wanted. I don't really want to remove the stock h on the Cobra. Are the Stingers louder than the Packs? I heard a sound clip online of the Stingers with a factory h-pipe on an '04 Cobra and it was a nice, low growl and sounded quite loud, but it was only an idle/rev clip. Should I just get rid of the factory mid when I swap the catback...?? I wanna do it right the first time. I want it louder than the set up on my '96.

Thanks!

Cindy

Magnapacks are louder than Stingers, but you'll have to piece a system together because Magnaflow doesn't make a cat-back system for the 03/04 Cobra's that utilizes their Magnapack mufflers.

Lot of it has to do with the type of mid-pipe installed.

Oh, I didn't realize that! Matters not, as I'm leaning towards SLP. No O/R X or H here, though! IF I swap out the mid, it'll be for a high flow version. I just can't justify the Stingers' price! $700!!

Thanks!

Man you all seem to have the exact opposite opinion from the folks at svtperformance. ALOT of guys over there are running o/r x and h pipes with Stingers. Just personal preference, I guess. I really like loud...but I don't care for raspy so much...a little is okay, though. That's why I'll most likely keep the stock mid or bolt a high flow one in later on.

um, a few guys over on modularfords still run the stock catback I think. It is a complete waste of money IMO to just change the midpipe. The stock mufflers are so restrictive that it makes me sick!

I guess I got too old for the obnoxiously loud exhaust. I would rather have a mild, nice sounding tone. It's more comfortable on long trips that way, and attracts way less unwanted attention. I am running a catted prochamber / magnaflow catback setup now and love it. Its nice and mellow sounding, not too loud, but not nearly as quiet as stock. When I go WOT it tends to scream with all that air moving!

lol, funny you mention that!! My neighbors ratted me out to the base housing people saying my car is too loud. I was sooo pissed. I invited the people to bring a cop over and inspect my car top to bottom because everything is 50 state legal on it. Some jackass just doesn't like the car I think. Funny thing is I barely ever drive the damn thing, and when I do it's always during daylight hours, never late at night or super early. Usually only on weekends. Also what kills me, is I have 2 neighbors with harleys with LOUD ASS strait pipes, that the ride everyday. One of them starts his every morning @ like 4:30 am and revs the crap out of it, and lets it idle for like 20 mins.........EVERY MORNING!!! But I'm the one who gets crap......nice.

SLP (loudmouth) is the loudest cat-back you can get. Magnaflow magnapacks is 2nd loudest. But i would strongly recommend an H-pipe, not an X with SLP.

I actually ordered the SLP LM1 catback last night!!! I can't wait to get it!!! I think I'll just leave the stock mid in there until I hear how it sounds. I have a feeling it'll be loud enough as is.

its going to be LOUD!! If you to want to do a midpipe someday though, your best off going with a catted H as stated before.
