maier leafs or grabatrak?

I have Maier 165 rear leafs in my car. They did a great job of eliminating wheel hop from my old springs. They did drop he rear a bit so I have to cut my front springs to adjust the level. They are a bit stiff for some, I am running KYB Gas-Adjust on all 4’s so maybe going to a softer shock would help a bit.

Never used grab-a-trac, but I would buy Maier’s again.

Maybe the 160's would work better for your ride. Call them and they can help you.

I have the Maier 200 lb mid eye race springs in the back of my 64 1/2 restomod.
back in 06 i redid the front end with TCP coilovers which lowered the front 2.5 inches. when i got the car i put 68 stock big block leafs on it which raised the rear about an inch over stock height... putting the maier leafs lowered the car 1 inch from stock height. now the stance is where i want it, the car is a bit stiff considering the shape of the roads here but it is fun in the twisties.
I talked with Mike Maier about my setup and he recommended replacing the koni shocks with bilsteins which made a big difference in ride quality. the konis were just too damned choppy.
Maier racings CS was great and i even got a hand signed card from Mike at christmas time. I dont have any expericence with the grabatracks but maiers did cut down on wheel hop.

Most of us that bought the maier springs have had wheel hop issues and I'll be willing to bet that most of us are stick shift guys.

The automatic guys don't seem to have wheel hop as bad.

If you have the grabas' and they work fine then leave them in. If you are buying a set anyways, I'd do the Maiers.

As for shocks, I'd match the fronts. Maier has spent alot of time figuring out what works on a mustang to make it work well.

So, you like the ride quality better with the bilsteins?

I'm running the 580-700 variable coil and a 165 out back with a set of edelbrock IAS shocks. The car handles fantastick but the shocks seem a little stiff for the street. Did you notice any loss in handling after the switch to the softer bilsteins?

no real loss in handling , the car seems more steady because it is able to react more to changes in roads rather than bounce over them. Mike maier also gave me really good advice on setting the compression/ rebound adjustments on the TCP coilovers. basically he said that most people set them in the middle to start. I ended up using the loosest setting on the compression and the stiffest on the rebound. I do have the C4 auto but its been beefed up and has very firm shifts. I also went with a 3.80 limited slip instead of the 2.89 open rear end. edit: ill have to snap a good photo of the leafs they are clones of the chrysler super stockers.
