Just picked up the mustang last month, first one and love it so far! I have ordered a edelbrock victor intake a 75mm tb and the NX n2o kit that bolts between the upper and lower intake. Now I am looking for motors. Probe 331 pro street has my attention but I think that the block needs more than a main girddle. Have powerdyne bd11 now, will sell and use proceeds to help fund the novi 2000. With super charger and n2o will that block take the power? Hope you fellas can help and any information in this area will help. Thanks new member, proud owner 1989 Lx Hatch 5 speed. I think this thing is going to break the bank!

Rpm will blow a stock roller before power will.
A bad tune will blow any block.
My peers have successfully run 450 to 500hp to the ground without breaking the block.
I have heard/read more "average" builders break blocks at 300hp than not.
My suggestion; if you question whether your block will sustain the power and rpm... get a better block.
If you don't plan on going bigger than 347ci, the new Boss block appears to be a very good value. There's a really good thread over on ******* which addresses the Boss block by a very, very competent engine builder.

Thanks for the info. You think that the boss 302 is a good buy.

There are some members on this board and others which I believe can get you that block shipped for 1500.00.
I know for a fact Joel5.0 does it.

Then it would need how much in machining? Yea, not so great of a buy after all. When the time comes for me to buy a aftermarket block I will be seriously considering the world man o war. Do your research. Good luck with it sounds like it will be fun.

What machining will you not have to accomplish on the World block?

The main reason I post this link... it has excellent facts on the Boss block. You will have to register in order to view it.

As you can see, SN has "auto" censoring against one of the few good "tech" sites.
It's over on small_block_ford_tech, just do a search on the Boss Block, or PM me for the link.
Here's a short excerpt from the "Poster".

Topic #23 - Ford Racing's New Boss Block

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I finished machining the Boss block yesterday and I am impressed.
Both decks were within .003 deck height of each other and both sides square deck too 8.207 deck height.
At 4.125 it is .300+ thick on the thrusts and the lifter bores are sized right out of the box.
I am impressed.

Looks wise the block is much nicer than a Dart as they are shipped appearance wise.
Needs way less deburring.

This block is a great choice and I really feel it will go toe too toe with a Dart block.
