After I installed my Walbro 255lph fuel pump a day or so ago I took my car to the gas station to fill it back up, major vibration! I think coming from what feels like the drivetrain somewhere. I don't think its related to the fuel pump install, it also happened to be the first time I had driven the car in about a month. Regardless of that though, this just kinda came up outa the blue, what would go bad just sitting for a month? Any ideas on what it might me. Is it finally time to buy that romac balancer? Thanks for any suggestions.

what gears? my fried put 4:30s in his car and has this problem, its his U joints on his drive shaft, because the car has so much torque now.

3.73's (see sig above). I see what your saying, the higher stress on the driveshaft with the new gears may have worn out the u-joints, I'll have to check it out.

Not that I'd be real disappointed if I had to buy an FMS aluminum driveshaft!

I still vote for the harmonic balancer... your car was not used then probably used and hammered on a bit. LOL

Just crawl under it and see if the rubber is hanging out of the balancer. It's easy to tell it's bad.

my friends car does it when he starts to hit about 60 , around that general area, but not just when hes goin slow just crusin, does your car only vibrate when you go fast or all the time?

my vote would be that you spun your balancer as well. to help us better understand though, describe the vibration. does it do it in neutral? if so, you can rule out the u-joints and gears as being the problem.

Yeah, I didn't even think about that, I does it in nuetral. The vibration seems to be directly related to engine revs. So I guess that rules out the u-joints.

are you sure its not the u-joints because i was thinking about it and if your driving your car an it starts vibrating an you throw it in neutral your drive shaft is still spinning, it always is as long as you are moving. so it could be those u-joints. i went in my friends car tonight an he threw it in neutral an it was still vibratiing like hell an it is his u-joints

didnt mean to jump on you. its been a really bad day. sorry. anyway, tell your friend to put the car in neutral while stopped and rev the engine. if the vibration is there its a safe bet that the balancer went. if it does end up being the balancer, i would recommend a romac. when my balancer went at 60k, i replaced it with another stock one. 2000 miles later, it was wobbling again. i have about 10000 trouble free miles on the romac now. i could have saved myself $80 if i had just done it right the first time.

That would be the U joints. At a certin speed my shifter would vibrate like crazy as if it was going to come right off the transmission, and other times at slower speeds it wouldent do anything. I put on a FMS AL Drive shaft and its never vibrated since then.
