anyone tried to make their own grille delete kit using the horse that comes stock and some other stuff. i was thinking of trying it and if it is a failure i guess i could stop being cheap and spend the 50 or 60 bucks on one. I think it would be fun to try to make one though.

Well, you sorta can.

What you do is get the horse support from a 94-98 Mustang. It's the same peice used for a Mach 1 delete and on the 99+ Cobras. The pony will attach to the support.

Now you need to remove the outer honeycomb grill.

Then you need to trim the inner grill a bit in the middle to clear a hole for the pony support bracket to attach to the middle support. There is a slot and two screw holes.

Once you get it attached, you would still need the lower black panel to cover the holes in the GT bumper. You can buy this peice from Ford for maybe $15-20.

You can get the 94-98 pony and support off ebay for $5 or so.

There's only two small holes in bumper and I ran that way for years, I did fill them before the paint job the last time. But they are hard to notice. I took what was like a double L bracket thingy l____l I had in some old junk. The horse I pulled off the black backing it's on by removing the clips and cut the backing that was behind it. Then I attached the black backing part to the one end of the double L bracket . I drilled a hole in the backing in order to attach it to the bracket. I then attached the other end of the bracket to the center post thats behind the original grill using a small sheet metal screw. After that I attached the horse back to the backing thats attached to the l bracket which is attached to the pillar.Horse l__________l pillar behind grill.

Ford's been making the grill deletes and chin spoilers a Ford-only item...with a mark up.

Now Mach 1 chin spoilers are about $80 and you can only buy them throiugh Ford. :(
