its because they are a better car and sell alot more.
i have driven both and the evo felt cheap and had very low performance out the box vs a sti. i have not driven the new evo's so maybe they changed

"there have been many many tests wuth those two cars.."
this is true but after standing on the gas the sti was alot more fun to drive and felt like more quality to me. the understeer can be tuned with the diff controller to the way you like the awd to work.

So you can't afford insurance on a fox and a truck but you can on a evo? I checked once for myself and it was around $300 a month. My rustang truck and bike is about 100 a month. Full collision on the truck. Sounds like a stupid idea. I don't have anything against evos either, I will like one for a daily actually without that homo wing though.

i have driven both and raced many sti's(never lost to 1) they are nice but the evo is clearly better on paper and in the drivers seat. im not here to argue and this thread is about him getting an evo his mind is made up and imo he made the right choice...

when i can afford it i will be repurchasing another 8

All I have to say is more power = more broken parts no matter what kind of car.

I like having my WRX as an alternate driver. Decent power, the AWD feels like nothing else. Doesn't really replace my rumble rides though.

The theory of they drove around for 90yrs w/o awd was fine maybe 5yrs ago. I agree, I drove around rwd and fwd cars for years in MA winters w/o too many issues. Deep snow, ice etc.but that was all there was for the most part on the road the problem now is just about everyone has AWD, and these idiots will run you over. before the playing field was more equal persay. everyone for the most part had fwd, so everyone for the most part was white knuckling it and had just about the same traction. now the poor soul with fwd trying to make it up a hill is getting honked at while the awd soccer moms are passing the poor bastard and shaking thier heads. still love it when I see a AWD or even a 4wd vehicle spun out on the pike, these same idiots still have failed to figure out they all stop the same.

I too have now changed my ways and have an AWD lincoln MKZ, 4WD explorer for DD and my stang and a few other toys for the nice weather. I have been driving for well over 20yrs, so driving in the white stuff isn't much of a challenge but I do like the added traction, why fight the crappy weather if you can afford it enjoy the technology I say and it atleast gets us even vehicle wise with most of what these morons are driving everyday like it was 10yrs ago..sign of the times.
