I recently installed the Flowmaster Cat-Back American Thunder 2 1/2" exhaust kit on and im kind of dissapointed. I mean it makes my car sound a lot better but it only seems to sound a little deeper..not that much louder..ne 1 kno how i can make it louder?...ne more information on the X pipe or H pipe?...and if i put a bigger exhuast tip would that make ne diff?...thx a lot...

u need an offroad H/X pipe if u want the ultimate loudness. the problem is that they are illegal on the streets even though everyone does it. i would check in your area if the cops care about it or not. also u will fail emissions either visually or on the machine.
your best bet is to get good headers (like BBK or FRPP) and a high flow catted mid-pipe to be safe.
also if u havent done already, get yourself a cone filter and put it on your car and remove that stock airbox. it will make your car louder with the K&N filter.

wuts the diff between the H pipe and the X pipe..and i can still keep the flows if i get the pipes right? stupid ? but just makin sure lol
H pipe = deeper more of a "Mustang" sound
X pipe = more exotic sound

They both bring about the same HP/TQ, so it boils down to the sound you're looking for. Althought with an H, your looking at top end and an X your looking at bottom end. It's not much of a differance though.

You can keep your flows since that is the "cat back" area of your exhaust.

With exhaust you have your header's, mid pipe (x or h) and your cat back. There is realy no stupid question here, only redundant. Good luck!!

I had a Bassani O/R Xpipe with my flows and it sounded AMAZING and was really LOUD. I could be heard from at least a 1/2 mile away if high in the rpm's. Don't believe the myth that x-pipes don't go with flowmasters. Go to www.mustangexhaust.com and check it out for yourself.

yupp..checked ebay..but idk if i trust it..rather buy it from somewere else..well im not that familiar with the X pipe..so any one know any good quality sounding X pipes that'll make my car bad ass ;)...fill me in...ne 1 kno were i can buy em @?...oh yah n i cant find the X pipe on Dr. Gas...were do i go?

1979 - 2002 Mustang MAC/BBK Long Tube Crossover System....is that the X type ur talking about..and if i order them...do they have to be 2 1/2" to fit my flows or does it matter?
No, that's the short X pipe if you have headers. You want the full setup since you have stock exhaust manifolds.

whats the hp difference between o/r and catted midpipes??
not much, maybe 2 or 3 ponies. You loose pretty much all of your back pressure if you go catless, so unless you have a blown application catless is not going to give you any big gains.

I completely agree. I think the SLP sounds like ass. But they said they wanted louder, so that's the combo I gave 'em. I would never put that on my car.

No offense taken man, i have heard the same car at work about 3-4 times now and still don't like it. Its very raw sounding, but it all comes down to preference. must say it is LOUD though, but thats about it.

For cheap easy headers, go FRPP shortys. Prolly the best header out there for a nearly stock car. If you want VERY loud go with a MAC prochamber midpipe and attach that to your catback. You will start bleeding out of your ears.
