how do you guys think centerline drag wheels would look with the center painted black 15x9



i'm looking for a set of drag wheels that are streetable, and i don't know how i'd like that style. i really like bogart/ fr500cjs, but i dont want to pay 1600 for wheels i can drive once and a while on.

i love prostars. but i'm trying to see if i can find something unique.

Might be cool, but they won't fit.

Greg Weld has some just about to release (finally). Otherwise, custom Bogarts or Centerlines are your only options, unless you can find some used Weld XP's. All other wheels will not clear the brakes. And all 15" options will require you to relocate your rear sway bar.

what brakes would i have to worry about? front or back? i was going to run a 3/8 spacer in front, and whatever is required out back. and i'm gunna relocate the swaybar.

and those are centerlines. at least thats how they were labeled.

i could also go with the fr500cj wheels, depending on the price of them. just thinking of other options before i drop 1600 on the bogarts i was about to order.

You were planning on putting these on the front as well? I am pretty sure DarkFire was assuming you would have clearance issues in the rear brakes. I don't think there is any way you could put them up front, not sure why you would want to.

well this style. i'd be going 15x 4 in the front.

15x9 rear
15x4 in front.

i'd be doing it in the front for weight saving reasons. less rolling resistance, faster times. i'm not going with a set of these wheels for appearance, just trying to make these wheels better then just plain jane rims.

i meant to just put 15 inch rims, because the front and rear sizes would be different.

fronts for lighter weight and less rolling resistance. rear for the sidewall and weight savings.

darkfire, where did you find information on the greg weld wheels? last i saw they were supposed tocome out thanksgiving and they got pushed back. i haven't seen any dates on them.

i've seen them on several sn95s by now, just no s197s.

They got pushed back due to Greg's death. The company is currently being bought and once that completes, the wheels will go on sale. Last information I had was a few weeks. But who knows.

Are those custom? They have to be custom made for S197s. Anything off the shelf will not work, except for the Weld XPs that I mentioned (that are discontinued).

The rear brakes is where you will have a problem. Even with some serious grinding of the brakes, they most likely won't fit. Believe me. Just about every "off the shelf" wheel has been tried, and none will work without serious modification.

damn. i know the jegs 15x4s fit with a 3/8 spacer in the front. i'm trying to find a set of wheels that will work in the rear. i don't really want to take a grinder to my car, maybe i'll save up for the back bogarts for now, and get the jegs rims for the front for now.

5 years into the body style almost and still not a good alternative to customs. this blows. hah.

i like the wholeshots too, but they are up there with bogart $$$.

which centerlines do you know of that will fit?

Holeshot, that's what I was thinking of. I said centerline because you had said centerline. Sorry, I was in a rush. Centerlines do not fit. I knew I'd made a mistake, but couldn't think of the right company.

The problem with Holeshots and Bogart's is they are not a street wheel. The new FR CJ wheels are just Bogarts and will not fit because they have a special backspacing for the shortened 9 inch housing in the CJ. I know it sucks but there currently is not an option for a light racing type wheel that you can run on the street for our cars, unless you get something custom made and pay through the nose.

would you consider jegs, weld, and summit wheels a street wheel? i know jegs wheels will fit with a spacer and some grinding on the rear caliper. i know people have gotten welds to fit with spacers. but this is my first set of drag wheels, and i don't want to get a set of wheels that i'm gunna turn at 5mph and snap.

i know the one guy around here runs welds on his 87-93 lx hatch all year around, but of course welds are the more expensive of the production wheels. they fit but they stick out and don't look right.

the jegs every picture i've seen it lines up great. so thats what i'm leaning towards the most. cheapest price, seems its not MUCH work to get them to be useable except the rear swaybar relocation, and the grinding, and then a 3/8 spacer.

the summit i have heard nothing about, but i assume they are pretty similar to the jegs wheels.

Welds and Greg Weld Racing are 2 different things. Some wheels are made for street and strip, some just strip. The Greg Welds for our cars will be strip only.
