yea i know. i was very disgusted too. that thing was ugly as hell. the seriously need to remake that.
People need to understand the Chrysler brought back the name, not the car. If this car was called something other than the Charger I think people wouldnt have much to say.
Personally, I really like the car and when you look at its class competion I think its the most desirable. Id rather have a Charger than a Ford 500 or Pontiac G6. This is a performance sedan not a sports car. Yes it had FOUR doors, you know what ?? so does every other car in its competing class.

g6 is not the midsize, it competes with the neon more i think.

Only brought back the name? You can't bring back the name and REDO the car. If they stopped making the Mustang and decided to bring it back with 4 doors people would be apalled (sp).
There is more to car than just a name, sure. It means something. When most people hear Charger, Hemi, Cuda, Mustang, Thunderbird, Corvette, Chevelle, Camaro they think of 2 door sporty, fast V-8's. Not a sedan.
Dodge did a great thing by bringing back the Hemi. They're making a big mistake putting it in the wrong cars (ie the Grand Cherokee).

I dont think Chrysler making any mistakes right now. The HEMI engine is one of the reasons they are gaining some of the market share GM and Ford are losing. A big V8 thats makes great power and gets decent economy with its variable displacement system. DC is about the only American car company with exciting products these day. I wouldnt buy anything from GM. Other than the Mustang and Lightning (if they build it) nothing from Ford excites me.

Sometimes I wonder if the Hemi is the only reason chrysler sells anything. Well, that and the Cummins in the 2500 and 3500 series pickups.
Seriously...the 300C is ugly (IMO), the Charger is ugly...the new Dakota and Durango are butt-ugly with those bug-eye headlights. Not only that but I recently saw a mid-size truck comparo in a magazine and the Dakota finished dead last (it had the only V8 of the trucks tested and it finished last in acceleration). The crossfire is kinda neat but way overpriced for how it performs. Neons are still neons aside from the SRT4. Also I'm not a fan of the new Viper styling, the old ones looked 100 times better.

There was a beautiful Charger concept a few years ago. Very modern yet very retro. Even had the fuel cap on the top of the driver's rear quarter like a 68 or 69 Charger. They canned that idea to bring you the rolling Brick they're producing now.

Yep. The new Charger stinks. I totally agree that they should have named it something else. Why give a car a name with a great history if only to completely deviate from that history and produce something nothing like the name's history suggests?
It would be like taking the current Chevy Impala and slapping the Mustang name on it. Now tell me... would that be a Mustang, in any way? No way! It might have the name, but to anyone who ever knew what a Mustang was (and always should be), they would know it didn't deserve the Mustang name.
