Pulled engine back out today and stripped it down to the bare block so I could take a look at the cylinder damage. Doesn't look good. At the least I'll have to hone out the cylinders again and I'm not sure I'm willing to get that loose of a fit for my pistons. So... I'm trying to decide if I should start over with a Man O' War block or see if I can salvage this one.

As I look at the specs for the block I can't help but be amazed. These suckers can be bored out to 4.200" and stroke of 4.250"!!! That's 470 cubes! Damn!!

Anyone have any experience with these things? Are they worth the $$$ or should I look into a different block?

to me they are worth the money if you wanna make big power and not worry about cracking the block. i have plans to buy one of those or an r block sometime in the future

Well I was looking into that... the Man O'War goes for around $2,500 and I've heard some damn good things about it. The R block goes for about $1,700. Pretty decent price difference. I'll think about it for a while I suppose...

Just my two cents, the R302 is much more common. Alot of ppl run ALOT of power on those. If it were my choice R block, IMHO

The R302 block is a 8.205" 302 deck height block.

You need to look at a 351W 9.503" deck height block to replace your 351W in your car now don't you?

I'd look at the M-6010-M351 or M-6010-N351 or M-6010-V351 or M-6010-W351 or M-6010-R454 blocks.

The Man-O-War is better than all of them, as is the Dart Iron Eagle Block. You can get the Dart block for $1800. See this thread. Particularly post #11. PM that dude, I'm sure he'll hook you up with his supplier.

The Dart Iron Eagle is a sweet block.Hehe,I love my local performance warehouse. They orded me a Dart Sportsman 351W block, and I got a Iron Eagel .

The one in that pic,tjm73 is a Dart sportsman block, the Iron Eagle has 4 bolt mains on all 5,and is dry sump oil compatable. It also comes with coated cam bearings.

Wow... just looking at the pics you can tell that is a beefy block! I'll have to put that one into consideration. And yes I'll be going with a 9.5" 351.
