I want to swap out my power steering for a manual rack.

I know the best and most expensive way to go about doing this is with a flaming river setup. But right now i'm wondering if I can head down the cheaper route.

I have a hook up on stock parts at less than cost. But before i try and order anything I need to know exactly what part # and year manual rack will fit into my car.

i'm driving a 90lx. Engine has a/c on it aswell, i'd like to drop that too at the same time.

Things I need to know. What year would I want to order a rack from? ie 79 -83?? and would anybody know an exact part # for this part.

Another question, for removing the power steering pump, where can I get a new belt that will go on my engine without having to put some stupid spacer pulley to take up the space. Thats something I dont want to do. It looks so ugly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, any manual rack out of a Fox car will work. You need to get the steering shaft out of a manual rack car as well. Might be a little tough to find. If you have A/C, you can just get a shorter belt. If you are losing the A/C, P/S and smog (which I assume you are) you can get the idler pulley off of a straight 6 truck and use it in place of the stock idler. It pulls the opposite direction of the stock one and then you can just run a shorter belt. I think you have to drill a new hole in the bracket to clock the idler correctly but I dont remember for sure. I would show you a picture but I just put power steering back on my car.

Here is how you would route the belt if you keep the A/C. It would normally be where the P/S pump is on my car.
