Okay, so my buddy bought a '95 V6 Mustang last week. This week, the transmission went out on him. I still had the T-5 I pulled from an '89 4 cylinder lying around. I believe they are the same tranny just different bellhousing. Am I right on this?

I don't think so. I think the '95 V6 trans is more like the V8 version of the T5. The input shaft is longer on the SN95 versions of the T5, or at least it is on the V8's. I don't know about the V6's for sure. It's got to come out anyway so you could do a side by side comparison when you get them both together.

I'd bet it's because a lot of people seem to look down on the 4 cylinder guys.

Okay, so we got the tranny out today. The input shaft is indeed longer and thicker on the V6 t-5. We haven't gotten the V6 tranny torn down yet, but we did find out the main bearing is toast. The rollers became welded to the races. Not good. It looked like the main input gear had some wear too. We did notice that the '89 tranny has an extra electrical connection on the top cover. Any clue what it is? Do you think it's a good idea to rebuild the '95 tranny or just find another working one. The bone yard by us sells running take-outs for about $300.
