I was wondering something...my map sensor is from a Speed density car but it is now a MAF car..i looked up the part number from 87 to 89 and there different part numbers would that hurt anything?
you sure why are the part numbers different then when you look one up for a SD car or one for a MAF car....lolnah, its the same thing
I know mine doesn't have any vac to it being it is MAF now but wouldn't the inside electric part be different in some way ??? if you know what I mean..a little clarificaion
Speed Density uses the vacuum port. That's the MAP part of the sensor. In Speed Density setups, when the Key is turned on, its takes a Barometric reading, and updates the Barometric under certain conditions. Like under a load when vacuum is low. When its not taking a Baro reading, its doing the MAP calculations based on Manifold Pressure.
OK COOL..just was doing some reading and saw someone say there were different...bap and map sensors are the same! the only reason ford changed part numbers is because of the hose deturent (cap) that was put on the hose fitting. On the early cars if you pull the lable off it has the old bap part number on them !
You can use your MAP sensor with the vac line removed as a BAP sensor. It should run fine.
If part ever fails, i'd replace it with an 1989+ BAP sensor
You do have a point there. But thankfully I was smart enough to go ahead and do these steps lolSome do considering a lot don't wire up the VSS and fuel pump connections.
