My wife understands that my mustang hobby is important to me so she respects that. I also respect her hobbies as well. We each get money set aside every month that we can spend on whatever we want NO QUESTIONS ASKED PERIOD! Any money I make on the side also goes to my mustang. She's happy and I'm happy. As long as the bills are paid we're all good!

I bought an '84.5 GT350 7 years ago and my wife confiscated it, so I don't get to drive it anymore. She went to look at the '91 convertible with me, and it was so clean and rust free, she encouraged me to buy it. She also owns 7 '68/69 Mustangs of varying models, so she has no room to talk.

My wife is a bookkeeper, and she knows where very penny gets spent. About 8 years into our marriage, she started complaining about my having spent 10K on the 89 GT I had at the time. Her complaint was that I was always spending money on the car. The car was paid for long before I ever met her, so I got out my pencil & calculator and did some figuring. The 10K divided by 8 years works out to be $104.16 a month. Cheaper than car payments for sure. After I showed her that, I heard no more complaints about spending money on my car.

I laugh every time I think about it... hahahaha, can you imagine!!! "Hey honey I'm taking the minivan out for a nice Sunday cruise" then proceed to drive to the dealership to pick up your GT-500...

If I did this my wife would be pissed. Not because I bought it, but because I didnt let her drive it.

I dont hide what I do from my wife. She loves cars as much as I do. As for your question. Everything before the car. Its a hobby not my life.

This is basically how it works for us too. All bills get paid first, we tithe to our church, money goes in savings, we each get a little money each month to spend and then anything I earn on the side I use on my car. We have been dating/married for almost nine years now. I have owned the same truck the entire time, which has not had a car payment in almost 7 years, she has owned three different vehicles during this time. I don't mind driving an older vehicle if it means I get to spend a few hundred dollars here and there on my mustang. When it comes time to buy a new truck, the stang will go untouched for a while. It also helps that my wife's father has the same addiction....he just bought his first new car since 1989. He put almost 300,000 miles on his 89 escort just so he could spend his money on his 10 second mustang. This is kinda my philosphy as well.

Lucky she didn't point out that car payments don't last 8 years and also come to an end

I guess im just blessed. My wife knows how much I love my car and she does not say much when I spend. I do however spend very little on the car so far. I have a huge build ahead of me though so wish me luck. Still not sure how im going to pull it off.

Not married, but have a fiance.

I have the fox, an F250 that I rarely drive, two jet skis, and a 30' boat. She enjoys using the boat, doesn't care for the jetskis, will drive the truck if it's the last resort, and from time to time likes to go for a ride in the fox. Can't really ask for more.

I hate threads like these. I feel bad for the guys whos wives boss them around. My wife doesn't tell me what I can and can't do, and I don't tell her. We both make the same amount of money (within 5k of each other). If she wants a $300 dollar coach purse, she can buy it, if I want a set of Nitto's, I buy them.

Our names are on each others accounts, but our deposits are still seperate. I still pay the same bills as before marriage and she pays her student loans, other bills and she mostly does the groceries. It all works out. We don't fight about it. It is what it is.

But now that I have a Terminator, I don't spend big money on the car. I bought it in 2008. In 2009 I put on a pair of Nitto tires. In 2010, I had two put two idler pullies on it that cracked. In 2011 I got sick of the idlers breaking and bought the 3 billet aluminum ones and a new belt. In 2012, it's gonna need two more tires. That's all minor stuff. Redoing a fox body is totally different and she's telling me to do another one.

Some men are idiots when it comes to money and without a wife they would be on welfare. I know a few who fall into that category.

Give the financial fight time. Its coming for you.

I get **** from time to time about spending money on my cars, but at the same time I pay all the bills and work. So when she bitches about the drag car I'm building I remind her who encouraged me to buy a project so I didn't have to beat up on my Cobra. So she just has to deal with the fact that money is going to be spent on a project.

Don't encourage me to buy a car and then bitch and complain when I'm putting in the wrench time. Bitch shut up and make me a chicken pot pie!!!!!!!!! LOL
