Maryland smog emissions?

Are there any drivers from Maryland? I will be moving back to Maryland from Southern California next year. My 65 is exempt from emissions/smog checks in Cali but I'm wondering what the guidelines are for Maryland. I checked the DMV website and I didn't find much information.

If you are planning on tagging as a classic car you will not have inspection or emmissions in MD.

How does one go about tagging the car as being a classic? Honestly, I'm hoping to keep the car registered in Cali because of my original license plate from the 60s.

You go to MVA, say "hi I would like classic tags for my car its an old mustang'; write them a check and be done with it.

if it's not to be a daily driver, then definitely check out getting "historic" tags .... renewal fee is much cheaper, no emissions checks/inspections (not sure they do emissions on old cars even if they have regular tags) .... insurance could be less .... but there are restrictions on "historic" class usage (don't get caught commuting to work) .... and they want it to be fairly stock .... especially HP ... otherwise, "street rod" may be an alternative (not sure on this -- no personal experience) .... you can use old plates, but I think they want a pair from MD .... good luck and Welcome to Maryland, Hon!! ....
