mass air CAI and non mass air CAI

I was wondering if I bought a CAI for a 89+ with mass air if there is a way to make it work with a non mass air car like mine.

They are the exact same except in the non mass air units they come with a little downsizer adapter. I know BBK sells them and assume others would, only downside is from bbk its about a 50 dollar option, might be able to fab something up for cheaper.

could I just go to the junk yard and get a mass air meter and have a non functional mass air then maby convert it later on down the road.
