I was reading all the previous threads on Disc Break Conversion Kits and it seems that the Master Power Breaks Disc Break Conversion kit is barely mentioned. I was wondering if any of you had bought and successfully installed the kit. I was comparing it to the SSBC kit and it seems (at least according to the picture) that the SSBC kit has a lot more parts. Anyways I'm just asking because the MP breaks kit is considerably cheaper then the SSBC kit and I wondering if the quality is worse as well. Thanks.

I have used their kits in the past (I put them on my '55 Chevy). My son and I just installed the Master Power kit in my son's '70 Mustang Coupe, although we are doing other work as well and I didn't try them out yet. Seemed like a nice kit to me. I really liked the kit I had on my '55 also.

I have not used the complete kit, but I have the power brake booster and master cyl. on my wife's 65 convertible. It has been 9 years with no issues. The install was easy, but I did find out that the booster is not an exact replacement for the original Ford piece, the studs on the brake booster, (for the master cyl.)are spaced wider, and an original Ford master cyl. will not fit, you need to use the one supplied, which means if you are in a bind and need to replace the master cyl., Napa or your local parts store won't be able to help you.

I have the brake booster as well...that whole 'not fitting exact' thing was a bit annoying. Although, all it called for was a little enlargement of the bolt holes...no real big deal.

Stuff seems nice though...not sure how it works since I'm all on jackstands

whatever you do, do not buy their electric vacuum pump. They simply do not work. I have installed and un-installed 3 separate MPB electric vacuum pumps only they just won't shut off once on.

I also purchased the kit over a year ago. So far I have mounted the booster and installed the new brake pedal. So far nothing has been troublesom. I haven't changed out the front brakes yet as until I'm ready to drive it I want to contiue to roll it around on the old 14" rims/tires. I felt the kit was reasonably priced for the type of driving (cruising) I plan to do with the car when completed.

if your doing a 65-66 buy the parts separate from an auto parts store you will save about 300 over the sbss kit. then there is no spindle, tie rod changes.

Hey thanks for the responses everyone. Hey Jerry S, what electric vacuum pump do you recommend then. I'm couldn't even find an electric vacuum pump through MPB so I most likely will not be buying it from them. Also rob289c, where did you buy the break pedal from? Thanks.

The brake pedal came with the kit. It has a higher pivot point than the stock, manual pedal.
