Max rev for a '99-'04 GT w/ Mongoose S-Trim kit?

What's the max safe rev for such a setup? 6K? 6.3K? 6.5K? I'm trying to find the best gear / slicks size ratio and I'd reach the 1/4 mile line at about 6200 RPM with the chosen slicks. Good or bad idea?

Ho, btw this is on a 100% stock cam / heads / so on.

For a stock engine on Mongoose tune, redline/fuel shutoff is identical to factory settings. Besides hp/tq start to fall off around 5700-5800 rpm it would be a complete waste to have the engine rev higher without cams and a built engine.

Does anybody have a dynosheet for a non-aftercooled Mongoose kit with the usual bolt-ons (mid pipe, for example)? It'll allow us to define the optimal shift points.

I dont have one I can post up. No scanner. But before i put on my IC, 5800 was where I started smoothing out.

You dont neccessarily want to shift at peak hp. Just because the power starts to flatten or even drop a little isnt reason to shift.
What matters is the actual power generated at that mph, vs what youd get in the next gear. If say in second gear power falls off from 400hp at 5800 rpm to 380hp at 6000rpm, your still better rev'ing to 6000rpm if shifting to third meant you'd be making less than 380hp. What matters is the area under the power curve.

Of course this is a function of your power curve. Optimal shifts points are easily calculated from a dyno chart (with the gears ratios of your tranny).

You obviously don't wanna rev the balls out of a stock supercharged motor though.

I don't see why I'd shift below 6000 RPM! The car WANTS to rev. That's why I'm asking about the highest reving capacity of our 2V 1999-2004 engine in race mode. 6000 RPM? 6200 RPM? 6500 RPM?

Yea our engines love to be reved right before the limiter at about 6 grand is a good shift point!

Power mods:
Mongoose kit
MPH 4" powerpipe
Reichard Racing 3.33" pulley
Flowtech ceramic coated longtubes/xpipe
Borla Stinger catback
Professional Products throttle body
75mm plenum (C&L ripoff)

Over revving will kill your rods - that be said, I think you could go 6000-6200 safely. Personally I shift at 6000 at the track.

What is considered as over reving? 6500 RPM? 6800 RPM?

In a boosted application, with our crappy rods..probably anything over 6100-6200 - that is if you want to keep your stock short block for long.

I wouldn't take it past 6 grand N/A or blown with stock rods. With a MMR900 block you can take that b1tch to 7+grand
