hey folks....ran into a snag

wondering if anyone has installed the MM oil filter relocation kit on a street car....a 99-04 GT

the issue is, the recommended mounting point for the new filter and bracket assembly (behind driver's side bumper bar - above the fog light) is exactly where Ford mounted the damn airbag sensor

figures, the MM intructions never mentioned it

so....what did you do to remount the Airbag sensor and where.....or.....did you pick a different location of the new filter/bracket assembly

sent an email to MM....but figured some folks around here have been there, done that.....MM says this kit is a must when running their K-member....so I figured there's gotta be someone that's done this

appreciate the help

Whatever you do, do not move the airbag sensor! That could result in airbag malfunctions...ie driving down the road and you hit a bump and out pops the airbag. That could be both expensive and dangerous. I would just find another suitable mounting location for the filter/bracket.

Oil filter relocation is a good cooling mod and so it is popular with Cobra owners. The oil provides 60% of cooling and the coolant provides 40% so oil is actually more important for engine cooling than the coolant is!

Remember that it will increase you oil capacity and also reduce oil pressure slightly. Since it slightly reduces oil pressure Ford Racing suggests not using them on track cars and to use for street car only.

Here is a pic of one installed:

Not my car, I did some searches on SVTP for you... Unfortunately I did not see any info about the airbag sensor.

thanks for trying

been doing some thinking....but have to get back under the car to eyeball it

wondering if the plate that you screw into the bumper can be mounted with spacers....so it's doesn't sit flush with the bumper....and clears the Airbag sensor

anyhoo.....we'll figure it out.....nothing in this hobby is ever a straight bolt in anyway
