I am going to order a Maximum Motorsports Strut tower brace, part number MMSTB-1, it sells for $129 plus shipping.

Do you like yours if you have one. Or will the the cheaper BBK part work just fine.

Pics would be nice also...

Thanks

i purchased the bbk strut brace for my 88 and it fits awful.it won't clear my typhoon intake and sits so close to my dis. that you would have to remove the brace to get the cap off so i didn't even try to make it fit.i would try the mm brace,if you like it let me know so i can get me one also.

I have the MM one, I love it. Clears any intake, including my huge Typhoon, as well as the distributor although it's tight. Another peice of trivia: the MM brace is one of the only ones on the market that attatches directly to the pinchweld (the strongest point on the firewall) rather than just a random point on it. I've seen many normal braces tear the firewall under hard cornering because they don't bolt to the pinchweld. Enjoy.

i acedently bought the one for a carbed mustang but i like it even more, it has extra room for the carb so the front bar is moved forwared more. only pita is changing wires or taking off the lower intake.

I have one on my 93. Fits great. I think that if you want a STB then that is the one to get. Granted like was stated earlier it does kinda get in the way but that is a given with any of them. I will also clear their C/C plates if you ever decide to get any.

Hey, if you haven't already placed the order, I'd sell you mine if you're interested. My shop never put mine back on after they worked on my engine and I've been too lazy to put it back on. Plus I need the extra money. Email me if you (or anyone) are interested - $50 plus shipping. I can provide pics too. I also have their 2-pt K-member brace to sell too.

I have one also and really like it. It is a strong peace. It made it through a front end accident on my old notch, and it was in perfect shap so it is on my 87 hatch now.

Here is a pic of it on my hatch

Now here it is one my notch with the accident.

has anybody used or seen a strut brace that doesn't cover the top of the dis. cap or go over top of the oil fill cap.the mm brace appears to have the same front design as the bbk, just hooks different in the rear.thats the reason i'm not installing the bbk brace on my car.too much hassle when you remove the dis. or have to add oil.

No, not to just get the cap off. We've made it work several times, although it's tight. I even use the factory boot on it. To take the dist right out you have to unbolt it from the strut towers and just prop it up- no big deal... and how often do you do that anyway? We only did it once, piece of cake.
