Okay, I may be going to pick up an '89 notchback 5-speed tomorrow, 87k original owner miles.... bone stock.
My questions are:
1. What shifter should I get? I hear great things about the Steeda Tri-ax, and wasn't 100% happy with the B&M in my last Mustang ('88 notch
2. Does the stock lower mix with any aftermarket uppers (intake)? I have a spare upper and lower intake manifold that I would like to port out. I have also hear that the lower is the restrictive part, and the upper flows pretty decently.
3. I also have a set of stock E7 heads with 180k miles on them. i'm going to rebuild them, and port them at the same time. How big is a good for valve sizes? I'm on a pretty tight budget, so I'm kind of stuck with these heads. I can't even afford Thumpers... However, I have connections at machine shops, so work will be very cheap.
4. Weight saving: I plan on pulling the emmissions crap (don't tell!), usual spare and jack, and probably the A/C as well. A fiberglas hood may be added, too... Can someone give me a guestimate of the weight of the car if I do all that weigh saving? Oh, and the sound deadener is coming out, too! And the battery going in back.
5. I'm going to need a clutch to handle nitrous. I'm really looking into SPEC clutches, probably a stage II... I'd be spraying a 50 shot at first, then moving up to an eventual 150 shot....
