Here's the story:

I work with this kid who is a complete assfawker. Since the first day he started he's been wanting to race me and said he's never been beat. I told him to wait until the summer and I'd race him because I didn't want to race in the rain/snow. Well, last night I was driving home from the mall and there's about a 2 mile stretch on the highway, 3 lanes wide. All of a sudden he pulls up to me and I had to look twice because I didn't think it was him... I slowed down to about 15mph and so did he, then he beeped his horn 3 times and after the third I just shoved my foot down so hard on the gas pedal that I thought I was gunna go right through the floorboards. I jumped on him by about a car length then just kept it straight and held on. He pulled upside me and wasn't able to get any farther [Right here I wish that I still had my nitrous kit installed.] so I took my O/D off let my foot off the gas quick and slammed it down once again, my car pulled a lil' harder and by now we were to where the road split, he was even with my side door. He went one way, I went the other...

Now I have to go to work and hear **** probably... I'm happy I kept up with/beat a turbo car, but I still wanna be able to completely rip his doors [and head] off.

Note: This all happened on a closed course.

First off, don't feel too bad. My brother has an '01 chipped 1.8T GTI and it hauls for what it is. He's gone even with a WRX from a roll with just a chip on the 1.8T. Your problem was that you didn't race him from a stop. HUGE mistake. My bro could NEVER get traction so you get the lead right off the bat. Once it has traction (15 mph like you said) it will pull pretty hard. With your 4.10s you couldve killed him off the line and won. See if he will race you from a stop.

Just give him tons of crap first. Make the first words from your mouth "I thought you were supposed to smoke me with that turbo car man!"

his turbo was most likely spooled up since you guys were rolling. race him from the dig and see how many cars you pull on him. he'll have a lot of catching up to do.

those R32's are even faster. I raced one from a 5mph role and he suprised me. I would put money that i could beat one, but they are still pretty fast.

Well...At work today it was fun.. He pretty much admitted to being the one sniffing my ass the whole time, but didn't have enough power to pass me.

My boss [who drives a WS6] was like "well you beat him, what did you think we'd expect?"

I donno if a set of UD pullies would help that much, i've been thinking about them but I have other things I have to get done first

Alot of people say the typhoon intake is really poorly made. I'd reconsider that one...

We specialize in vee-dubs at our shop. Just a chipped 1.8T is by no means fast although like someone said they do well for what they are(have driven many). Anything can happen on the street like that, take him to the track.

i raced a 1.8T GTI wit apr chip/turbo back exhaust, intake manifold, and other bolts ons. He said he went 13.8 @ 99 before the turbo back exhaust (which he had on at the time). We raced from a stop to 130 (off nitrous). he was at my rear bumper the whole time. I have 5 close freinds with 1.8t jetta wolfsburgs. One is about to get the apr stage 3 which i think is 300 whp

i am a tech for VW. those 1.8t's are no joke. there is a guy with a beetle that comes in with a chip, front mount intercooler, and a cat back. it hauls ass, it pulls 20 psi of boost. still think he is gay cause he fixed up a beetle but o well its fast

3 cars ago I had a 91 Jetta that I swapped a VR6 in to and built a head for it and ran the AMS vortech on it, that thing ripped, would smoke my cobra. And our 2.0 turbo rabbit shop car ran 11 flat on a stock bottom end, vee-dubs are no joke. It all depends where you draw the line between fast and peppy. A mild 1.8t isn't anything to write home about. But once you dump a bit into them they do really good for what they are. I just wish the vee-dub scene didn't go down the crapper and get saturated with krauters, which is why I got out of them in the 1st place.
