Miles of cars? Either of them autos? Drivers and condition of cars being equal I say you win.

I'm not biased and have both. Started with a stock 5.0 LX so I have a good feel on this. (See sig)

Stock for stock:
PI 4.6 > 5.0 and he hasn't done anything to speak of on top of being 200k tired.

Make sure your traction control is off and walk right past him.

Your 4.6 should have no problem with his 5.0 . You've got about a 40RWHP advantage and afew hundred RPM advantage up top. His 5.0 will run out of breath.

Probably more low to mid 14's depending on your driving skill. A lot also depends on the temp humidity and altitude.

As much as I love 5.0's, i hate to say it but i've beaten plenty in the street. Most of them running around now are tired 120K mile stockers with an exhaust. Not really much of a challenge especially if you start from a roll. I've done a few 3000RPM rolling starts in 2nd with a few and just easily pull away.

But then there are the nicer 5.0's that are well maintained and car for and have a few mods. These are the ones to watch out for because they can be VERY fast.

My own 5.0 is faster than my 4.6 GT, but it's one of the well-maintained modded cars. Most of the 5.0's i see on the street today are tired old beat versions

one of my friends has a 91 lx auto 5.0 with 1.7 roller rockers, and flowmaster cat back with 50k, i have a 02 gt 5 spd vert and beat him every time at the track. he ran 14.99 at his very best run....my vert which is heavier than your coupe went 14.4 and i only have a bassani exhaust.... you will win unless you miss a shift. i even beat him when i tried to many rpm launch and smoked the tires....good luck but you shouldnt need it.

everyone thinks the 5.0 is fast stock or with a few mild bolt-ons, but they're wrong. bet him $500 and then take his gf out for a nice dinner afterwards

Like anything with enough $$$ they can be made quite fast. But with the mods he has on this one, it should be like taking candy from a baby.

yea it shouldnt be hard for ya to take one down. I have raced a few at the track. One running slicks he jumped me good off the line probably held a 2 car lead till id say half track in the 1/8th and then i walked right by. once u get ur 2v rollin then u shouldnt have any trouble with one. the 5.0s make good low end torque but arent the greatest up top just hold onto him off the launch and after first gear u will reel him in if he jumps u.

As everybody else said you beat him. If you don't put at least a 1/2 second on him I would be shocked.

Many people think the 5.0's stock are faster than a stock PI 4.6 where in reality they are more like a NPI 4.6. I will never forget the look on the face of a coworker that had a 95 gt 5.0 when I showed him my stock 13.90 timeslips. LOL it was priceless.
