Me vs. SRT 8 Charger

Same thing works for the Magnums if that's what you are asking. Magnums look okay... but it's still a glorified station wagon.

You can only get the Charger in an AWD in the R/T and SXT, not the SRT8. Same thing with the Magnum. On the 300 it's only offered on the Touring, Limited, and 300c ( hemi ).

I also feel you guys are all over looking the SRT8 Grand Cherokee ( which you can ONLY get in AWD ) and the supercharged SRT6 Crossfire.

Its got all the bolt on stuff:

3.73s, subframes / tower bracing, Hurst shift, Trick flow street intake, 70mm tb/EGR, FULL exhaust (O/R H-pipe). 180° therm, timing bump, U-D pullies, elec fan (currently going in), air silencer removed, probably another mod or two that I forgot about.

:flag:

You're mentioning a thermostat and air silencer removal as part of "all the bolt on stuff", and you expect to hang at all, even from a dead stop, with an SRT8 Hemi?

Oh I forgot a few things, C&L Maf, 255lp pump, and tune-up stuff like the wires and yadda

Seriously dude, if you're in the mindframe that things like tune up stuff like plug wires and the 1-2 hp gain you get from removing the air silencer are mods you can add up to figure out how you'll do against the Charger...that does not bode well for you.

I would say even with a good set of heads and a matching cam, that you would still be beat just not as bad. I am not bashing 5.0s, I own one. I am just being realistic.

With only the mild mods you mentioned you are going to get totally and unconditionally owned.

i dont overlook those, i'm just not as interested in the cherokee. the crossfire is cool but it didnt seem to see the success that the others did. the fact that it's pretty pricey doesnt help either. i cant remember, but what are the numbers on the crossfire?

No, but I couldn't remember everything I did to the car. So What I was listing was, all the little stuff and some of the bigger stuff I've done and could remember. I'm merely trying to accurately describe my car. Some of you (you for example) Choose to list mods to the car in the sig. I'd rather not do that. Over all I think you are taking this way to personally. Basically the guy is a friend of mine and while I figured I probably couldn't win, I simply wanted to know how I'd stack up. There is no animocity at all and if I wanted the win bad enough I could simply BUY it.

I'm simply pointing out that my neighbor got a neat car that I'd like to race against win or LOSE! its all in fun and thats what cars are for IMO.

Going with your theory however, it sounds almost impossible to get a 5.0 Mustang into the 12's, or I'll put it another way.... It sounds really hard to beat a SRT with a 5.0 LX without very major and expensive work....

In other words, A good cam/head combo with Super T-5, injectors and tune still couldn't beat an SRT?

a geared HCI fox on a tire would do strange things to a bolt on SRT-8.

Let me pose another question, I know of these cars hanging around. Very Good friends of mine also, were all in a club of sorts. These are some of the faster cars.

  • '06 GTO M6
  • '01 WS6 M6
  • 01 GT M5, 330hp SLP pack, 3.73 gears + a couple other doodads.
  • '06 GT Auto, 350hp SLP pack, 3.73gears.

Those vs. SRT8 or is he now the "king of our hill" :flag:

All of those guys have pretty fast cars.

I'm not taking anything personally, how could I, this race has no consequences for me or my cars. I'm simply trying to give you a realistic view of things. You said that both you and your bud agreed that "You>Him", but I just don't see how that's possible.

When brand spanking new, our 5.0s were rated at 225hp. The 6.1 Hemi is rated at 425hp and 420lb-ft torque. That's more than just a little tipped in his favor.

In addition, stock 5.0s in good condition typically put down between 175-190hp to the rear wheels depending on variables such as whether they are an AOD or T-5 car. With your very modest bolt-ons, you might be breaking 200hp to the rear wheels, maybe.

You got a good set of gears, so maybe you won't be totally murdered off the line, but your stock unmodified heads and cam won't rev any where near quick enough and won't be able to get hardly anywhere above 5k....and you're going to get a great look at his taillights fading off into the distance.

I certainly am not advocating against the ability of 5.0s to break into super low 1/4 times, I mean, the NMRA is all the evidence I need of that. I am simply saying that with just some intake mods and a numerically high rear will not be enough for you to compete with, let alone overcome, a 400+ horsepower car.

I thought you wanted honest opinions, I was just giving you one :nice:

Crossfire SRT6's are rated @ 330hp/310ft lbs. They weigh in just over 3200 lbs curb weight.

......don't forget the NOS stickers.:rlaugh:

You sure you looked at the right car? I challenge you to find a NOS sticker anywhere on my car. :nonono:

As for the splash guards, have any of you ever been to UT..? You might consider putting them on your car too if you lived out here.

Don't just make stuff up because "you think you box"

Yeah I've seen that movie too. Sad thing is, that was the best of the 3... Steadily got worse.

On a side note... He took me for a ride, then he let me drive.. I'd probably have a hard time holding him off past 40.... :D Thats a really nice Muscle car for a family man and very fast. I'll take mine in silver please:nice: I'd probably step down to the R/T since the 5.7L Hemi had plenty for my use but it gets better mileage than 17mpg. I need the Ram Air hood / intake though...

It Makes me even more interested in the Challenger for a weekend warrior if I don't order a new Mustang GT this year.
