Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Ford designed the number three spark plug location on the 2000 Mustang 3.8 V6 to be a deterent to ever working on your own car again? After ripping my hands to shreds on all the plumbing snaking through that area, I finally got my plugs replaced.
My '00 has 53,000+ miles on it, and I noticed over this last week that it had started knocking and pinging under acceleration and up hills. I run 89 octane fuel, so I didn't think it was an octane problem. I decided to replace the plugs and see what happened. I removed the original Motorcraft Platinum plugs and found their gap to be between .060 and .065. I replaced them with Autolites gapped at .052, and that seems to have cured it. I put about 60 miles on it today and didn't hear one ping.
Does anyone have a recommendation for replacement plug wires? I was going to pick up a new set of grey Motorcrafts, but was wondering if anyone made a set of blue wires that would go better with my 'stangs paint.
Thanks!

Ford does have some blue wires. I saw them in a magazine ad, but do not remember exactly where.
