I went to Autozone today and noticed that Meguiars came out with a new wax called Tech wax. Also I noticed it's a bit more pricey then all the other waxes out there. Anybody have experience with this wax and is it worth the pricetag.

yeah

I emailed Megs about their products because I am confused whether I need to do three coats....Prep,Polish and Wax or just do the new all product all in one step. They gave me some wish washy answer....basically they didnt have an answer.

IMOP the new one step stuff is for lazy people that want one step...so they charge more... Otherwise you are paying for two or three products. There site recommends prep/polish/wax when I type in my cars info.

I tried their new Cleaner Wax this last time and it definetely didnt do as good a job as when I use the polish and wax separately.

I usually alternate...prep and wax or polish and wax.. And use Scratch X first to get off tar...rubber bugs etc etc scratches...

I would recommend.................

Spot check with scratch X, then polish and then wax...

once in a while prep and then wax...

I have been noticing swirls in my hood and roof so I am going to scratch X the entire hood and roof next time and see how that comes out.

BTW their black trim restorer is real good too and their tire shine actually stays on after you wash the car.

NXT is a good off the shelf product but there is a whole world of detailing products that blow it away such as Klasse, Zaino, Wolfgang etc. To answer your questions on NXT...

NXT is a Ploymer, that is why its expensive, it actually contains no wax at all. If your car has MINOR swirls then the fillers and cleaners in the NXT will suffice and you will only need to use the NXT. If your car has major swirls hen use a Swirl remover prior. The Meguais 3 step system is basically a short term un-durable system for people who are happy with one week of great looks. If you want the car to look great month after month use Polymers suck as NXT (Although NXT is the least durble polymers out there). If you are a detail freak check out,

www.autopia.org

I warn you though, once you visit this site your gabage car will be full of your current advertising driven junk.

oh yeah

Zaino is that kind of product too right?

I have heard touch up becomes a problem with those kind of waxes?

You may be right. Megs three step...of which I do two haha looks great all the time for me. It still looks great even when I retreat it, BUT I keep my car inside all the time and it almost never sees rain to wash it off....

Maybe I should try a different kind of wax. i certainly wouldnt mind a one step product that looks as good as the three step process...
