Melbourne area stangs

Dan's numbers sound pretty close to me. A 98 Mustang is rated at about 225 FWHP right? Subtract about 18-20% for driveline loss when running an automatic and your there. If it were a stick the loss would be more along the lines of 12-15% since you don't have all the internal friction of the automatic.

Another thing to consider is the air quality. For instance, at 3PM yesterday the temp was 79*F, Baro 29.93 in/hg and the dewpoint was 68*F. That will result in about a 1-2% drop in power right there due to the lower air density.

So taking your rated HP of 225 and deducting a minimum of 19% and a maximum of 22% gives you a range of 175-182 RWHP. Not knowing what mods Dan has that would add a few more RWHP to the end numbers.

If Dan has some dragstrip performance numbers and knows the race weight of the car he could check the dyno figures against a HP calculator. I have found these calculators to be very good estimators of HP and good tuning aids as well.

They just dynoed a Mustang on TNN and it only came up to 177. I think it was a 96 Stang.

Im watching that too, after they Put on the 75 MM TB and Cold air they got up to 188 RWHP. It was pretty stupid of them to put on a 75 MM TB for that car, its very very far from needing a 75 MM TB, I know w/ my 5.0 that would not be good.

I don't see why they think that engine needs a 75mm tb, stock i think they have a 70mm which i think is already overkill for a 96-98 4.6 sohc unless you have a blower on it. I'm looking for around 490rwhp when I am done with my 88 and I am only using an Accufab 70mm tb.

I hear ya, My friends 91 GT is pushing 510 RWHP and hes only running a 65 MM TB. I dont see how they went from 178 to 204 RWHP on the dyno from that oversize TB which would hurt them more then help them and the Cold air kit and just the cat back for the exhuast.

Yeah no kidding, I cant belive they went from 178 to 204 w/ just those few bolt ons. It must be an auto too since they only pulled 178 when it was stock. W/ full exhuast, headers, O/R H pipe and 2 Chamber flows 2.5 in all the way through I Pulled 210 On the dyno. Could have pulled more b/c Im in need of a tune up and am running a rich A/F Ratio. Thing is they did those runs on a dyno jet and those are usually pretty accurate, I still dont get it though, that car must be tunned to perfection to pick up that much HP w/ just those few things done to it, either that or its total BS :bs:

Come on now, you don't really think they could install parts built by the sponsers of the TV show and not show a significant power increase do you?

If you believe that, then your a bit gullible. The bit about the throttle body is pure :bs:

My 302 ran 11.9 at 115 with a 65mm TB, so there is no way that puny 4.6 needed anything bigger than stock size to make ~200 RWHP

Well TJ's stang pulled at 302 hp at the wheels.Which was way more than anybody expected even TJ.
I got my car done to and pulled a 310 rwhp and 324 lb of torque. So I guess after you do the math my motor is what round 350 to 360 hp.I was happy for only haveing the vortech with their generic program and only flowmasters on the stock 2 1/4 pipes.Well looks like Im going to get the steeda tune here real soon. The Steeda techs there said I should at least get 350 to 360 rwhp with their tune.

No Kidding, I never did belive it, not w/ more Mods on my 95 5.0 and only pulling 6 More HP on the dyno then that 96 4.6 did. Especially w/ an Over size TB. Its wrong of them to do that b/c peope who dont know that much about cars are going to go out putting on 75 MM TB and 3 in exhast and be thinking the whole time that bigger is better. Sad thing is that well all know they fudged the #'s, just sad that they had to do it in the first place

TJ got 302 at the wheels, Adam got 240 something.. so I heard.
I got plenty of pictures.. may put them up tomorrow.. or perhaps Dan will for me.

Anybody want one of those huge Mach 1 posters? I have about 10 of them.:D

The drive home was fun. Dan :owned: TJ off the line and up until TJ got into 3rd gear...:damnit:
