Melbourne area stangs

The wife and I just picked up a new (to us) vehicle. Ended up getting a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Got a pretty good deal on it and it's a damn nice vehicle. We've got no complaints, but the first time something does go wrong, you'll be sure to hear me bitchin' about lousy Chyslers. ;)
Cool beans!! :D My friend has one, I think his is a little older, he's never complained about it breaking. Now you can get to work on that GTS, which class are you shooting for in the end?

When are we gonna see you at AutoX again?

I'll be at the next one, pretty sure anyway. I'm working on my driving, no mods to the car, just trying to learn to drive properly:lol: The last event I found myself braking way too early/hard(new rotors). I haven't measured the old ones, but I have a feeling that they were out of spec for width. The fact that the brakes on the Merc worked better than the ones on the Stang shoulda been a clue.:nonono:

I know. I sorta got bored I guess with Mustangs. So I'm not involved much anymore.

Hmm, that sounds familiar. I went through that awhile back, not sure I'm 'over it' yet. Sometimes I still think I'd be better off dumping the Stang and going back to fullsized cars for modding. Tons more room in the engine bay..

AIX. ;) Actually, right now it's classed for Street Mod, but I'm building it for opentracking, not AX.

And if all goes well on my next trip, I should make the event on the 19th.

I learned a long time ago that mustangs are money pits. I sometimes get burned out on dumping all that time and money into my stangs. I spent $4k on my cobra in a matter of a month trying to get back up and running. It should be all worth it when I get it running and dyno tuned next week. I have spent my last four saturdays which is my day off at my work working on my cobra, running into problems with the 99 motor swap, putting in my new springs, etc. There is even a joke at my work about how I can have a girlfriend when I am spending all my money and time on my cars.

That course really does look sweet. Mmm, I'm looking forward to this.

On a related note, anyone looking at going to the event up at Daytona? I may take a day or two off from work to go up there if the course looks good (i.e. they include a bit of the NASCRAP course and speeds might aproach triple digits).

From what I understand, the Nov 1 Daytona course will be on the infield as a Grand American Roadrace is also being run. We were told that we would be able to make a parade lap around the speedway at some point during the day. It's 20 bucks admission to the track then 15 for SCCA members to enter the AutoX.

NASCRAP <------ :rlaugh:

I was talking to Cheryl week before last about the Daytona event. She was upset because the speedway folks were trying to renig on the parade lap deal for some reason. Like Kevin said, the AX will be run at the same time as the road race. The course will be set up on the infield parking area and was going to be a pretty short course.

I will be going to the MSCC mini-prix event in Gainesville on the 25th and may even go back up there for the 2 day event on November 1 and 2 as well. I heard it will be a fast course with very few cones. The Saturday event will be a MSCC rules event and the Sunday one will be the SCCA state meet.

Looking forward to seeing you and Kevin again on the 19th Dan.

Hey 5.0's 4 ever, would that happen to have been you in your mystic cobra goin down I-4 last night? Mystic cobra + dumps made me think it was, but I wasn't sure. :nice:

Sounds sweet man! :hail2: :nice:

It wasn't me. My cobra is still sitting at my work till I recieve a new X-pipe for it then it is off to lamotta for a chip and a dyno tune. It should be up and running by mid week, so if you see a lowered mystic with FR500s driving around that is me.

How was the cross today?

It was pretty interesting. Rained just before we started 1st run and just before we started 4th run. Normally that wouldn't be too big of a deal, but the skid pad was part of the course, so it was interesting. I went for a nice ride sideways the whole length of it on the 4th run :D I ended up stopping pointed in the opposite direction:nonono: I was running treaded street tires and wasn't accelerating across it, I don't think I was anyway:shrug: It was pretty fun, even with the rain, I got consistently faster all day, except the last run.

Glenn only got 2 dry track runs, so that didn't help his cause any. Baglock was there too, nice to see him again, too :) He was running Street Mod, man your car is loooooow to the ground.

Can you say, "In the weeds?" :D I was pretty dissapointed in the car overall. The front end felt like the tires were coated in velcro and I was on a carpet but that rear end was slicker than snot. It was just insanely out of balance.

Oh well. Time to spend money on the rear end now... and then the brakes...and then the tranny... and then the motor... and then the... :nonono:
